Josh Hodgson was up there with our worst signings. The only positive was 1yr year and looks like he won't count towards the 2024 cap. He was outplayed by Hands who was outplayed by Lussick who would be in the bottom 5 hookers in comp.
His defense was garbage, he had no run game and was slow all over. It was a panic buy when we lost Mahoney.

In saying this I feel we also dodged a bullet. Had we PAID Mahoney what he wanted 650k for 4 yrs we would of been in a worse position. Reed is a good player but just not worth that coin. He has gone from a top 5 hooker to perhaps around 8th-10th this season. Guys like JMK over took him. Some might even say Walters closed the gap.

The Watmough signing and Foran much worse. Both got paid top dollars and long contracts. Gee we dodged a bullet with them both. Even if Foran stayed fit he was never worth 1.2mill back under the cap then. That's like 1.6 now. Both had injury histories and come from a very strong side.
Hodgson deal was short and I guess not a ridiculous amount. It was still poor knowing he had busted knees and was old.

We probably offered him that role after footy already that's my point the Roosters use this all the time to get players near the end of their careers with the offer of a job after footy.

They just do it with better players than we do.
