Everyone knew there was a risk of injury, including the coach. Most of you ‘knew’ it would be his knee and it wasn’t. It’s just a shame Hodgson was on such a massive contract that we couldn’t afford to sign a replacement.

No doubt he was a champion at his peak one of the best Englishmen to play in the NRL since the early 2000s that i have seen.

He should be put on a pedestal alongside other Englishmen Adrian Morley, Sam Burgess and James Graham in the NRL era.

I suppose it was just bad luck we got him when the engine was run down and the tyres were basically bald.

The club went stupid when they could not keep Reed... Instead of bringing Hands through last year they panicked and bought Hodgson. Who got injured after signing with us and missing a year of footy which wouldn't be too bad if you were staying with your current club but he had to then come to us and learn all the Eels ways and try to get match fit.

The money they used on him could have gone to a centre/winger and we probably would have made the 8.
