Apparently Bennett is relying on Benji's word and Kent is relying on someone else's word, which again raises the question why would he mention Benji's name on an accusation like this with second hand info.

The only way Bennett is lying is if he didn't ask Benji or Benji admitted it, otherwise Bennett is going on info from the horses mouth, Kent admits he isn't.

Oh yeah it's all Sticky's fault that Milford has been overweight ever since he moved to Brisbane.

I believe Kent. I believe Benji told the truth about Milford being lazy, because he's always been that way.

I don't believe Bennett.
I believe Marshall said it at some point as well. My point is Kent only gave half the story, which means he gave it out of context, to make his point that Milford is a lazy trainer. By Kents own admission in the other half of the story Marshall praised Milford's effort during preseason, yet Kent didn't mention that part did he.

And this is the part that shits me... Kent and his ilk love standing in the watch towers firing shots and then retreating to the shadows when it suits... And while ever he is surrounded by like-minded gits on a News Ltd production, he won't be challenged about any of it... Instead, he gets invited on a sister-show on the same network, with a chance to fully prepare his defence, after someone calls him out. And even with the preparation time afforded him before going on the Johns show, he still fumbled through his words, deflecting as hard as he could, talking about how Bennett has changed or some shit like that...

Funny how he mentioned Bennett banning journo's from Origin all those years ago but Wayne still invited him along.... probably because he was a Fairfax journo back then and reported on footy, not the News Ltd muck raking gossip columnist he is now... Go and get a job at Womans Day or New Idea already FFS

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport...l/news-story/58b658d2e15ed50a47bd35ff1af8f1f4

so there it is,....what i was first to point out and everyone chose to ignore because it was too big a white elephant....

the source was son in law ben ikin after all.

bennett is being made to look a complete fool by his own family.

All right here is the extract.
I think quite rightly the heat is coming down on Kaaarrnnt.
He's spreading second hand gossip and has now thrown Ikin under the bus, just to protect his "reputation".

I did not even claim the story came from Marshall, as Bennett insinuated.

It came after Ben Ikin, my co-host, who played golf with Marshall and around about the eighth hole asked how Milford was travelling.

Marshall told him the story about training in a manner praising Milford.

Marshall witnessed Milford cutting corners and, appalled at allowing his talent to waste in the gym, said he adopted him as a training partner.

From then on, he told him, if the trainer required them to do 10 reps then they were going to do 11 and Milford responded.

Next, as Bennett again led us to believe, I never quoted Marshall on the show in order to make anything up.

“Benji Marshall is horrified by it,” is what I said. And he was.

Here, Bennett actually does what he accused me of doing: he made it up.

I didn’t even say it was Marshall that told me the story.

I did call Marshall after Bennett had him in his office for a please explain and I apologised to him for throwing him under the bus. I told him to tell Bennett to call me if he pleased, I’d clear his involvement.

Bennett didn’t.

Bennett is always portrayed as the master manipulator of the media, often in situations like now.

Why didn't Kent tell the rest of Ikin's story to begin with? The part where Milford now does extras with Benji.
"Benji Marshall IS horrified by it"
Is Benji still horrified by Milford's training habits now that he is doing extras with him?

I can't stand the Broncos, but I am glad Bennett called Kent out for his lazy 'journalism'.

Never in my life have I struck a print or electronic's media journo, make a mistake, misquote someone, tell a porkie or spin something to sell the story or denigrate someone.
They are beyond reproach, pure as the falling snow. It's not in their DNA to lie.

The big black feral boar that just flew past my 110th storey window, whistling dixie, is named Bruce.

why should it have been brought up? the context was why milf hasn't lived up yet to his 900k a season contract price.

he may well improve, if benji is helping him out (which was always expected with benji's signing on as drinks runner anyway) but that's no guarantee....what is evident is how badly milford drifts in and out of games. hence the report

“Benji Marshall is horrified by it,” is what I said. And he was.

context lad, look it up
bottom line the story wasn't made up, and ikin made bennett out a liar

This is the point, Kent claims he didn't get the information this week like it's some sort of justification and rebuke of Bennett for asking Marshall about it, yet as you say, he said "is", not 'was'. He misled people deliberately to make his point.

I genuinely can't believe the lack of comprehension from so many people in this thread. For Benji to be horrified by something, he doesn't need to say those words, as a matter of fact facial reactions are a lot more accurate in these situations.

Any single person in that gym could have been watching Benji shake his head in disbelief (or something similar) after watching Milf skip a set and then report that to Kent.

And at no point did Kent indicate he spoke to Benji, you're just twisting it that way because your comprehension skills are lacking and you're just wanting to have a shot at Kent because he must have written something bad about your club at some point. (I completely get the hatred of Journo's by the way, they are scum, but the basis for your anger is misguided on this one).

yeah just keep ignoring the FACT the source was sitting right next to him to justify the technicality you're holding onto to

You think Ikin is going to question the journalistic integrity of a panel member of his own show?

Any single person in that gym could have been watching Benji shake his head in disbelief (or something similar) after watching Milf skip a set and then report that to Kent.

If that happened and Kaaarrnt said that that person was horrified, then there's no problem.

See the difference?

EDIT - look in the whole scheme of things it was an off the cuff remark by Karrrrnntt, but it shows the standard of his journalism. Now that he has tried to defend himself looks worse.
