In other words, we need to bring back the previous system, which was replaced because repeat offenders kept getting suspended around finals time 🤔

No they need to fix the ridiculous system where you can commit grade 1 offences for high tackles and dangerous contact 25 times in a year and never get suspended

That was the system until this year. Points based, so eventually you'd get suspended.

The changes THIS YEAR are what created this situation.

Yes Tim we know. It’s still a ridiculous situation that needs changing.

Even under the current farked system, they’re getting this wrong. How can a deliberate attack to the head with an elbow be a grade 1? And it’s with force, full body weight force….
This is a player, deliberately employing a forceful, illegal technique, trying to cause damage to an opponents face/head - how is this only a fine? Yet a player attempting to make a legitimate tackle that results in an accidental headclash is sitting out weeks.
They need their heads testing at NRL.

They don't need to change back to the old system, they need to fix the 3 charges that result in a fine whether it is the 3rd offence or the 300th

No one cared untill they realised that the storm was short on forwards and have a forward that would likely be suspended if low grade charges added up to an eventual suspension.

really the storm are no threat no chance they win 3 games straight against top teams. Why not find something that we want the NRL to crack down on that will have potential to hurt the panthers

Honestly, what the f**k is going on with this competition, judiciary and Nelson Asofa Solomona? What the f**k does this neanderthal have to do to get suspended?

Braith is right, he has a rap sheet as long as the country is wide, yet he can't even get a week's suspension for dropping elbows all over the competition. Even when it's on a protected species like the Roosters - I got it that no one gave a shit about the Warriors.

The guy is a thug. He beats people up in Bali, he elbow drops, he has had 17 charges and pled guilty to 16, yet has only had 7 weeks on the sidelines in his career, he shows no remorse, never changed his behaviour. Finucane loses 3 weeks for an accidental clash, Wayde Egan ended up in a dentist chair for an elbow to his face, but nothing happens to Nelson.

Absolute horse shit. Gutless judiciary.

He's also a coward. Radley (who's half his size) grabbed him by the throat and he did nothing.

Wait is this legit? 17 charges and only 7 weeks on sidelines?

That's ridiculous. A bloke can do close to that for one honest mistake and he's going out every week doing thug shit with basically no consequences.

I got that quote off Fox Sports. So I presume it's right. And yeah, agreed.

Then Tamou gets a reduced sentence for good bloke-ness, so NAS should get more of a sentence for shit bloke-ness.

The only reason Tamou got a reduction was because he is a 300 gamer about to retire and heavily respected by all in the league from what I can gather.

No way if he was playing next year that gets reduced.

The NRL are trying to erraticate players running too fast

Nah that's true, but it's another example of inconsistency and the fact they just do things off the cuff.

What about Munster getting hit with the "wet lettuce" of a warning letter ffor dropping an elbow/forearm into Sam Walker's head when in possession of the ball? Not even a penalty on the field and no charge at all.

The issue with the old system and the new system has always been the MRC do not provide a clear guide of what the criteria for each grading is. Ask anyone what the difference between each grading for a high tackle is, no one would be able to give you a clear answer. It will be vague terms like 'more force', 'more severe', etc. rather than criteria that can be judged.

The sad thing is, the fundamental structures of independent MRC and Judiciary Panels is strong and useful. But they have no framework to really base their decisions on.z

Start of the season, send out definitions and criteria of each charge and grading, and even provide 'typical examples' of each. This increases transparency, gives MRC guidelines on where to charge, allows players and clubs a solid foundation to argue against should they challenge, and then the Judiciary panel a clear way to make determinations.

It won't be perfect, because we know the MRC will be missing tackles that should be charged, but at least it will bring clarity to charges.
