I thought precedents can’t be used in defence anymore or is there a precedent for revisiting precedents lol
Happy to be corrected, but I believe you can use examples from tackles that have been charged, but can't use ones that haven't.

In other words, you can't use a similar tackle that wasn't charged as a precedent for why you shouldn't be found guilty for your tackle.

I hope for your sake souths have a better defence than that because he actually wasn't falling. He runs low and compact but his height didn't change from the moment burgess started his action and the result was teddy out of the game.

There is absolutely 0 chance he gets a downgrade on that argument. The better bet is to find some other tackle that was similar and only got a grade 1 which given the "consistency" of the NRL, I am sure there are many.
Yeah, on review he wasn't falling. I still think it's worth the challenge though. Was shoulder first then chin. If he fails and we somehow make the GF, well if we can beat Cronulla and Penrith without him, we can beat anyone - and if we lose his 2nd/3rd game(s) would be served in the world cup anyway.

Heck, we can even compare it to Taane Milne who lept off his feet and hit a 6-foot-5 bloke who was upright flush in the chin and only got a grade 1.

The MRC are useless and reactionary, and the judiciary is a roll of the dice. Worth the risk IMO.

As forecast by many that this would happen (in relation to May's off field punishment being postponed till 2023) -

What the NRL should have done if they were truly consistent is said nothing about it this week and then come out next week and announced the 2 week ban, suspended.

Headline - "South Sydney slam NRL hypocrisy"
Article - "cheekily asking if the Tom Burgess ban can be deferred until next season"

That was why I added the bit in brackets when I posted it as the headline it displays is rather misleading to say the least.

It's not even that.

I believe I am correct in saying that you can only use tackles/incidents that went to the judiciary. In other words you can't use ones that weren't charged and/or ones that were charged but the player plead guilty. They rreat the MRC and judiciary as different entities therefore only decisions made specifically by the judiciary can be used as precedent.

Oh they should definitely challenge for a downgrade. Even if they don't get it, as you say it is unlikely they get through Penrith with him and even more so without him so may as well give it a shot.

Just saying that going in with the defence of him falling won't work. The point you made about shoulder first might work if they can prove it but I get the feeling the result of teddy missing the majority of the match will be the overriding factor which is not necessarily how it should be IMO.

3 weeks?

If they Cows win last night he gets zero.

Absolutely. How many shots like that did NAS get away with this year? NAS' probably worse as he'd just come in and smash people in the face with a closed fist.

At least they would be consistent. Its for the fans after all...

Nothing lost with the Cows knocked out. Its only the World Cup.

I thought Paulo might have at least got a fine for his dangerous throw. These things seems to be all or nothing which isn't the reality of the danger involved.

Nah Parra can do as the like. Mitchy Moses was concussed at least twice last week but didn't miss a game
