Half expected that last post to be the one that tells us that Jordan Rapana is facing a 4 week suspension, while Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Justin Olam haven't been charged. Guess that one comes later in the day.

Rapana is facing 2-3 weeks and NAS just a fine.

Rapana gets done for a shoulder charge but Olam doesn't? Olam's arms were down by his sides when he hit Schiller FFS.

NAS was a careless shoulder making direct contact with the head. How the f**k is his a grade 1 and Rapana's a grade 2?

What a f**king joke.

There is multiple precedent that shoulder contact with a player as a last line of defence is allowed, so long as it isn't high. Refer Billy Slater getting off and being allowed to play in the GF a few years ago. Olam was more head than shoulder anyway.

Mikaele Ravalawa would like a word.

Rapana copped 10 in the bin and is facing 2-3 while Tino stayed on the field and copped a fine.
I love Tino and am happy that he didn’t get suspended, but his tackle was much much worse than Rapana’s and if the NRL are fair dinkum about long term effects of head injuries, he should have been dealt with a lot harsher.

Rapana is a little thick though how many times does he need to be suspended to get the message? It was brain dead.

Graham Annesley, 11th July 2022:
“Another aspect of that was Latrell Mitchell running in and dragging a player off. He could have very easily seen himself in the sin bin as well.

“We do see players charged for that sort of action and we do see players sent to the sin bin for that type of action, so my recommendation to any player who wants to make sure that they don’t find themselves in the sin bin and they don’t want to find themselves charged, that if you’re not involved in the incident, then stay out of it.”

Graham Annesley, 19th July 2022:
“I know that there were some people that would suggest that Tino should have been sent to the bin as well. His involvement was different, but the match officials dealt with that in consultation with the bunker and then the match review committee dealt with it.

Consistency is overrated. I might be being harsh though, I mean he's only the NRL Head of Operations.

latrell 3rd man is mentioned as a warning if lesser players were to do the same. How do we explain the Walker incident after the dogs try, first in and strikes the face of another player right in front of ref. Third in to defend teammate is worse than randomly striking a bloke in the face

Ravalawa suspensions say otherwise

Well he's certainly paid the price for the graphic nature of the injury instead of the act itself. Have seen that before...

f**k the nrl just take their policy from the back page dont they?

Ok. Fine. Head clashes now result in 2 weeks for the defender. Great

Deemed to be reckless/careless, and very hard to argue. The laws of the game do not differentiate what part of the body is used to make the contact. I seem to remember Dylan Napa getting rubbed out for leading with the head.

Yeah but there’s leading with the head and normal front on contact. Leading with the head Nate Myles style is a grub act.

If that is a charge then why not charge every head clash?

Noticed that Yeo not charged with a swinging arm that cut Moylans eye when he got his try by the way.

You literally have a player throw a headbutt on Friday night with no charge.
But a headclash is 2-3 weeks?!

Also an intentional shoulder charge is just a fine?

Honestly, the Sharks should challenge but the club is a bunch of soft cocks who let the NRL walk all over them when it comes to MRC and Judiciary grading.

Yep. The bloke who clocked Edwards didn't get charged either. Both would have just been fines anyway.

The Finucane one was deemed reckless/careless, ie the manner of the tackle was causative. Most head clashes are completely accidental.
