What has he said about the game clock? I tuned in late.

The game shouldn't have even be restarted after the Tigers try as time should've expired.

Next week, every single team that has a challenge remaining at full time should challenge the last play, just to show how stupid it is that you can challenge something in the last second of the game that you cannot challenge in the preceding 4,799 seconds.

But Butler didn't whistle full-time, it was a 'short whistle'. This is the difference between yesterday, and every other last play in a game.

I was at an u21 rep game on weekend where a team was behind, scored a try with about 2 mins to go, and declined the conversion as they still would've been behind by 2 points if the conversion was successful and it would've run down the clock. Their sideline was pretty cluey I thought as they insisted that time off should've been called once the captain declined the kick. That would've left them 90 secs - 2 mins to have a final go to win the match. I checked the rules this morning and that is the rule! However the ref didn't call time off despite protestations and the kick-off team was able to run the clock down by the time the kick off occurred. The attacking team ended up with only one tackle instead of the 90 seconds of play, so the game was essentially over.

A little different to yesterday where Tigers won the game and lost it based on a decision after time expired, but it's still shit that refs don't know rules when people who play it do, particularly these rules at the end of the game which can lead to so much controversy.

The big money in the game is derived from media, sponsorships and, dare I say it, gambling. They first two would love the bunker, especially when it creates click-bait and viral video controversies like this.

We're not watching rugby league any more; we're watching media events. Multiple camera angles, the bunker's involvement in officiating and big audiovisual displays at the grounds very deliberately encourage this stuff.

I'm sure players who take dives that win penalties get lots of congratulations from their teams. It used to be called cheating and piss-weak behavior; now its called 'experience' and 'game awareness'. With the amount of money involved in betting on the sport these days it is naive to believe that the game has remained pristine.

All rugby league purists despise the bunker. The game isn't played in super slow motion and freeze frames. It never used to be played for the money either. It's more spectacular, more skillful, faster and much more entertaining, but it's a very different sport to what it used to be. IMO, it's only a matter of time before there's a really major corruption scandal and / or someone is actually killed on the field.

We're stuck with these televised gladiatorial stadia performances. The game is now a product for mass consumption, that's all.

So Annesley basically said that teams can challenge any time the referee calls a stop to play, and at that point they can challenge anything up to the previous play the ball.

Think the marker that just tackled you wasn't square? Fake an injury until the ref calls time out, then challenge the play. Annesley said you can. Think you got hit high? Stay down and if you still don't get the call, challenge.

If we thought milking was bad before, look out.

This administration has to go before they kill the competition.

Looking forward to every team throwing in a challenge at the end of the game and putting our already incompetent referees under the microscope in a high pressure situation.
