When? Pre season 2018 or for 2019?

Before 2018 kicked off sure, but after a handful of games they looked like a completely different team with incredible defence.

They didn’t maintain it all season but certainly looked on the rise. Now they’re back to square one.

Pascoe was impressive in how he dealt with a few matters so it will be interesting to see if it affects them. McGuire coaching will probably have a bigger (compensatory) effect.

Well, when you mentioned 9-12 months ago initially, I thought it was obvious we were talking about pre 2018.

Historically terrible off season. The likes of merkin and Sloth are gonna have a field day when their season coverage kicks off on Fox.

I’ve always wondered about jobs after retirement as there is no mention of it on the nrls Salary cap explanation page. I guess it’s clear now that if a job is offered to a player whilst still playing it has to be declared and counts on the cap of that year? Be interesting to know how many nrl CEOs have broken into a cold sweat today?!
Barry Russell is planning to self report on jobs the club gave Sparkles, ET, Jonathan Docking and Gavin Miller.

At 8am this morning the NRL informed Wests Tigers that it is issuing a preliminary breach notice in relation to an ambassador agreement with Robbie Farah.

The club is shocked with the decision and extremely disappointed in the process.

It is an arrangement that Wests Tigers had with Robbie that is unrelated to his career as a player. The club does not know if he is going to take it up and Robbie has not indicated his intention in return.

The reason the ambassadorship was offered in November 2015 is that then new CEO Justin Pascoe felt that the club had disrespected Robbie and this was a way to show him the respect that Justin felt he deserved as a Life Member and club legend due to the overwhelming support Robbie had at the time from Members and fans.

Most importantly Wests Tigers derive absolutely no advantage from this arrangement. It is not tied in any way to Robbie's playing contract.

Wests Tigers are particularly concerned about the wrongful attack on the integrity of the club's CEO. For the last three years Justin has shown nothing but respect for the NRL and the salary cap.

The club will be vigorously defending this.

God DAYM that is scathing. This story just became more interesting than the Sharks (although admittedly that isn't hard.)

Also fancy going through this much drama just because you wanted to give Wobbie a slobbering blowie for drinking a beer on a scoreboard.

"We have obtained documents which show that the club entered an agreement to pay Robbie Farah to act as an ambassador at the club when he retires from playing," Greenberg said.

"This agreement was signed in 2016, at the same time Robbie left the club to join the Rabbitohs.

"The game's rules are very, very clear on these arrangements.

"Any commitment to make such a payment should have been disclosed and should have been included in the salary cap. The club failed to do this."

Why would the Tigers include it in their salary cap when Farah was leaving to play at Souffs? Methinks the NRL might lose this one in court.

If my club has done the wrong thing I have no issue with them being heavily penalized and officials sacked.

This whole thing is extremely bizarre though. There was an article in 2016 saying Farah had been offered the Ambassador role, how is it only an issue now?

There are many other clubs where players transition straight from player to Ambasaador/coach/marketing etc.
Wests have come out and said the arrangement wasn’t even taken up?

The fine is only slightly less then what the Eels were fined for what was proven systematic cap rorting that went on for years.

This is classic misdirection from the NRL, nothing else.

Mate, I get where you are coming from but the NRL is at best, a snail's pace organisation.

Really surprised it's only taken 4 years.

I see today Annesley has said there will be no reduction of interchange this season. Will be looked at later. What the f**k is the hold up??? More years of 'study' into the possible effects of it. Lol.

Irrelevant, he has been punished for lying to the nrl, or at the very least not being up front with them. He is either totally stupid, in which case no loss to the Tigers, or there was something very iffy about what they were doing and didnt want to give a heads up to the nrl.

or.........it was exactly what Pascoe said it was. A job for after his career as a recognition of his status and service at the club. Im not a fan of Farah, but its not impossible for him to be a disruptive influence within the playing group (I have first hand information of the extent of this) and then as Pascoe said to recognise his contribution and use him in that ambassadorial role.

TBH, it is actually the only scenario that makes sense.
