^ I think Shorty is kinda correct there Constraint.

While the World Cup and Four nations are great competitions and you would rather win, the fact is that if New Zealand are ever going to take that first ranking off Australia they will need to start winning at least half of those one-off test and games against Australia in the pool stages of World Cup and Four Nations.

Bullshit.

Thats like saying winning in round 1, 12 & 16 of the NRL is more important then the GF

WTF? Why is there even an argument here? New Zealand are world cup and 4 nations champions. Until we beat them in this year's tournament they will remain so.

Nathan fien, aku Uate?
Fien is a joke yes.

Akuila Uate began playing Rugby League in New South Wales and has played every game in Australia. He's as much as an Australian league player as anybody else on the team, regardless of where he was born.

Normally I'm the one explaining what you're saying as well, but Uate should be playing for Fiji still! You simply should not be able to switch, especially not as easily as Uate was allowed to!

As much as I still think of Australia as by far the dominant force in world league (due to the innumerable years of dominance in the past), that's actually a really stupid thing to say, to be blunt. Come on guys, don't worry about winning the major tournaments! We must instead focus on the one off games! They obviously have far more significance than that silly little World Cup thing, and that irrelevant Tri Nations trophy.

The simple fact is that our players, in the last couple of tournaments, have played out of our skins, despite having significantly inferior teams on paper, whereas for whatever reason, the Australians haven't. No idea why, I'd be coaching professional footy if I did.

I'm presuming you're not actually serious. Given the choice, major trophies or irrelevant weekend tests.. Give me a few months to mull this one over.

Out of curiosity, why does anyone reply to anything roughyed says..? Genuinely can't remember the last time (s)he posted something actually relevant/useful to the topic at hand.

Its no surprise. It's Shorty. Shorty is in the razor/byrne rovelli league of numpty idioticy.

Naww, did someone dare to suggest that to be the number one nation - not just trophy holders - NZ need to beat Australia more consistently? Reach for the razors time.

Not sure that winning the World Cup 9 times would fill a trophy cabinet better than winning it only once?

I can understand that confusion.

Well you see, feel free to correct me but to my knowledge the World cup is one trophy. Then when a team wins it they have it and it gets passed on to the next winner and so forth, so it's possible for only one team to currently have it in a 'trophy cabinet'. Therefore when someone asks how the trophy cabinet is looking for Australia currently quoting the amount of world cups won in the past that are currently not in the trophy cabinet is irrelevant to the question. The end.

You are thinking about it wrongly, going by a strictly rankings view.

an NRL version would be the minor premiership, Don't have to win any games in the first ten rounds to win the premiership but if you want to win the minor premiership you have to win most of them.

But until NZ beat Australia more times then not they won't be RANKED 1.

I'm not denying that NZ are the World Champions.

Really you've got to weigh it up....be current world cup and four nations holders or be ranked number 1 in the world with neither of these trophies?

Btw that first mid season test win is coming very soon.

I shall correct you. While the current trophy is passed from winner to winner each year, between 1972 and 1995, several other trophies were used. 5 of which were won by Australia.

Besides, the trophy residing in the New Zealand Rugby League Museum will have Australia World Champions stamped on it 9 more times than NZ.

The real end.

Congratulations you hold old trophies which do not have current significance. Too bad we can't play for them in a series because we would probably win them off you.

New Zealand- World and Four Nations Champions.

Lol, merely correcting the false assertion that the Australian Trophy cabinet is "pitiful"

Yeah no doubt, congrats on being ranked number 1. You guys will probably keep that ranking with a win this Sunday and we'll win the important one in a months or so time.

Peace.
