what is weird is all this depth that NZ have apparently aquired.......has disappeared...so much so your struggling to bring over a 24 man squad....bill tupou???..... jeezzz
What's really weird is that England have their own competition in which they have 12 professional clubs to New Zealands one, more than ten times the population, and still have to use players Australia and New Zealand didn't even want as insurance policies to fill their squad.

And what's even weirder is, one of them will probably be starting in the halves.

Nice depth!

You're joking right? Tupou is a gun, and England have plenty of forwards depth left. Really all that is hurting them there is the worldwide shortage of quality centres.

a gun? why was'nt he picked in the first place then?

did i read somewhere that the kiwis are gonna have 5 or 6 players making their debut on sunday?.....things could get ugly....you can't do that against australia...even a weakend australia

and ,steve McNamara aside,i'm happy with the progress england are making...but i'm not shouting about it yet like the kiwis are about their "new aquired depth"....which they don't actually have

He wasn't picked in the first place because Manu and KFFL are better - hence the idea of depth. I don't expect you to understand that concept though.

Yes, I read that as well. They're blooding a heap of new players, you don't think those guys are part of their depth and their experience will be improving their depth? So yeah, I'd say NZ have enough depth.

Lol he's there Spud you dunce because Duffie, Vatuvei, Perret are out and he's still behind Nightingale and KFFL so effectively 6th choice winger. If Matai and SKD weren't injured than Beale would be in front of him as well.

you can't qualify your depth til they actually play a test....and when they get outclassed by a weakend australian side you stop having depth and just have players there to make up the squad......

so lets see them keep within 20 of this australia outfit....i bet they won't

 it's not depth until they play a test? Grasping at straws now. Locke, Packer and Glenn are yet to make their debuts, but if you didn't rate them as part of Nz's depth previously you need your head read.

Why would there be shame in being outclassed by a weakened Australia given NZ are also weakened, hence why we're having this debate.

I think the depth talk with regards to NZ is to do with the stock they had less then 10 years ago. Where selection was relatively easy, and there was no competition for places. I used to look forward to the Aus v GB games for a contest (where GB would take one game in the series before losing it) but now that focus has moved to NZ for competitive and tough footy.

NZ have come along way in the past 5 years, and credit to them. They've done what england/gb have failed to do in over what is it 40 years, and that is take a trophy off Australia.

Although they must be rubbish because you beat them last time in a 3 match series. How about you leave your chest thumping until England win a 4 nations series first. I for one cant wait for the day, because a seriously strong england would do wonders for the game on an international scale.

Probably more something your team should be focusing on.

Damn, when you're the worlds greatest your envious opposition always think they can take you down.
LOL Envious? No.
It's really fantastic that NZ has depth but, please, Australia has had dominance for a long time...winning some competitions in the last few years doesn't replicate Australia's success.
Weird that Australia doesn't hold either of the major International League trophies then....
So what? NZ is still p*ssweak with one off games and tests, it's those games that NZ need to strive to win to be a more consistent foe of Australia.

You could add Hoffman/Locke to that list as well if Hoffman wasn't injured.

How deep do you want it spud?

He was a very good winger out of the U20s system. Last year he looked physically weak and he was dominated in most tackles he got himself into. He looked a bit shell shocked by it all.

This year he drives through tackles and has been an excellent 1-2 combo with Vatuvei in terms of getting the Warriors on the front foot. He's improved massively. Tupou goes very well and I think deserves his spot.

LOL - no one gives a sh!t about those one off tests. They're one offs for a reason in that they're utterly meaningless except for a cash grab for NZRL and ARL.

As much as I still think of Australia as by far the dominant force in world league (due to the innumerable years of dominance in the past), that's actually a really stupid thing to say, to be blunt. Come on guys, don't worry about winning the major tournaments! We must instead focus on the one off games! They obviously have far more significance than that silly little World Cup thing, and that irrelevant Tri Nations trophy.

The simple fact is that our players, in the last couple of tournaments, have played out of our skins, despite having significantly inferior teams on paper, whereas for whatever reason, the Australians haven't. No idea why, I'd be coaching professional footy if I did.

I'm presuming you're not actually serious. Given the choice, major trophies or irrelevant weekend tests.. Give me a few months to mull this one over.

Out of curiosity, why does anyone reply to anything roughyed says..? Genuinely can't remember the last time (s)he posted something actually relevant/useful to the topic at hand.
