does not surprise me , clearly he turned some games . I have always been a supporter of Sandow from start and have defended him against a lot of the cum lately parra fans in the past who now think he is kapow. My criticism since his signing with Eels has been one of VALUE. I have no issue with Souths not matching the eels offer for sandow , you have paid overs and this is where critic of his weakness comes to play. Good luck with him next year. I would assume his pay and now the $750k PA plus for the manly winger will provide plenty of disruption to team harmony .

That's an average of $425k per year.
That's for your best player - the bloke who almost dragged your overpaid overhyped mugs into the top 8.
Wait until he gets to play with some real talent (Hayne) or with a 5/8 who doesn't always overcall him (Roberts) or behind a couple of props who don't just make meters, but get quick play-the-balls (Fui/Mannah).
Sandow will look better for us than he did for you - and it just so happens that he plays a position that we were SO WEAK that you yourself Galeforce would've been an improvement on the duffers we had run out there. Just so happens to be the most important position on the footy field in terms of attacking structure and so getting results in the win column.

If you don't think Sandow is worth $425k then you need to ask yourself which halfbacks in the comp are? It's the most important position on the paddock, so if anyone is worth $425k it's a halfback - especially a very young one who just got named best player for his club and already has 4 years first grade experience.

mate ive given up on trying to use logic with souths supporters let them all think he's no great loss until they try playing without him next year

Exactly.

Given the importance of halfbacks, and their current undersupply, someone like Luke Walsh would be worth $300k on the open market, and he's only average.

Maybe this time last year Sandow wouldn't have been worth $400k+ but right now it's a very fair price for a match winner who can break the line and kicks so well.

Most halfbacks are poor defenders... it's how you hide them on the field that matters and Souths were coached poorly there.

Are you kidding? Roberts is a good defensive half.

As for Sandow, we've got enough good defenders who work hard that we can hide him. Souths' problem was that they have far too many players that either don't work hard in defence (e.g. Sutton, Luke) or just plain aren't good enough defenders (e.g. Taylor, Sandow).

Souths would be better off with someone like Ben Hornby at halfback. Even Ben Smith would be better for them than most of their back-rowers. At times this year Michael Crocker was the only Souths defender worth feeding. Him and McQueen who was stuck on the wing all year.

Sandow will be perfect for us because he's the complete opposite to most of our players.

If Reynolds can kick I don't think Souths will miss Sandow as much as we'll gain from signing him.

They have attacking talent all across the park, as well as the aforementioned defensive issues.
