OK, JW and TH unsigned. 2 of them would be nervous the way Tuks is emerging. Like I said at the time Tuks was extended it's interesting the order of retention.
Of those 3 I feel that OK is the most likely to be let go. Jack has been one of our best players both late last year and early this year. Tommy keeps developing and is going gangbusters considering he's only 20 odd games into his career. Not saying OK isn't a decent player but with AFB on his way and Tooks coming along nicely...OK is possibly surplus to needs moving forward assuming we extend Jack and Tommy.

We need to keep Williams he is crucial he is turning games.
OK he can go, Hazelton we keep if still good priced.
I would be tempted if another club wants Hunt come end of the season he may go as well.
Interesting to see that Hosking was 19th man not Bradbury he might have jumped up pecking order there as well

Blocker hates the sharks for some reason. The only reason he got to play in a GF is because they played us. Maybe he holds us responsible?

With AFB coming, re-signing Hunt is a bit of a head scratcher. Maybe some think it was the correct decision but as far as freshening the squad up and moving a few blokes on it's 1 I'm not a fan of especially if it impacts us keeping Jack
Im in the same camp on Rolls Royce - rocks and diamonds. I’ll take the coaches advice though, the performance of Tuku might have been a bolt from the blue.
He and JW last night was the only reason to hang in there

I don't think so.
I've heard him praise us plenty of times, plus I've witnessed him attend and help at our training with players.
That was pretty hilarious, in ways that he spoke, lots of merkins thrown in. The players showed him great respect though.

The way the various options work might have a bearing.

Jack's not in danger of being moved on IMO. It comes down to TH and OK

The club has an option on TH but OK has a mutual option. That puts TH ahead if my understanding is correct as both parties have to agree to a MO. With the CO the club has only gotta say we want you.

For what it's worth, and in IMNHO, Tuks has already gone past both in just 30 minutes of footy. Both OK and TH disappointed me in the early part of yesterday's game. Had a chance to take it to the big Canberra pigs but were both pretty quiet.

Could be wrong but OK may be playing with a bit of an injury?

He has been disappointing.

Agreed.

I said somewhere earlier in the week that this was the time for Herb to show something, anything, to make us think it's worthwhile taking up the option. Sadly for him, he once again produced pretty much nothing.
The only thing I will say in his defense is he had his left quad heavily strapped. Maybe if we weren't so light on troops he wouldn't have been playing.

Tommy was underwhelming. He's definitely not a starter at this point. And Tuks looks to have way more upside for mine.
I know it's only early days, but this year Tommy's progress seems to have plateaued.

OK has been solid, he played big minutes yesterday enough, both he and TH good enough for fitzy to hold the use of the bench for most of the first half allowing him to bring Williams and tuk on to have a big impact.

Must have been injured all of last year as well then
He was, smashed finger and a foot/leg thing.

His wife also had a miscarriage in the UK during the World Cup in 2022. Then she fell pregnant again and it was a very nervous pregnancy. Shortened pre season due to World Cup. Like many, he had a lot to deal with in 2023.

Maybe we can work out a way to medically retire Dale and retain sign JW.

Controversial opinion: With McInnes in decent form find someone to take him for next year if it means we keep Jack. JW has a longer career ahead of him. Keep the younger guy with more upside. It’s exactly what the Storm did with Dale.

Another way to retain Jack is that another club wants Hunt we move him on with Tooks taking his role a lot more upside.
You then have the next 2 for 2025 and where they stand Hosking who is playing 80 mins for jets and Bradbury you would hope they would be pushing for the top 17 next year

If Bradbury is pushing for the top 17 next year Stake we are in real trouble.

Agree with cutting ties with DF.

But CM is a keeper for mine. His work rate, energy and courage puts BB to shame.

JW is the priority. He’s coming into his prime now as a forward. When you can come on as a bench forward and change the momentum of the game. That definitely is GOLD for the team.

I think people are being a bit harsh on Hazleton. He's played what, 30 games of first grade and this was his first as a starter?

He ran for over 100m, made 31 tackles missing just 2. Tuks on the other hand certainly ran for a lot of metres but only had to make 8 tackles. How does anyone think he'd have gone having to make 20+ tackles.

I think Williams has been at times our most important forward and is arguably having his best year to date.

I'd be happy letting OK go given the depth we have for next year but JW will always have a place in the top 17 for me.

Happy to let Hunt go and keep Tuks if he was cheaper.

Hazelton did the job asked of him last night. He played 49 minutes, made over 100m, made 32 tackles at 91% efficiency and no errors.

He is a 25 year old prop in his 2nd year of NRL stepping up to start against 2 international props. Anyone who expected him to do any more than hold his own is kidding themselves. His development from 15-20 minute cameos to playing well over 40 mins starting has been very good for this stage of his career. That is a massive change in role for an inexperienced player.

Tuks is Hazelton 12 months ago. Short stint after the sting is out of the game with a license to run hard and make an impact. He is doing that well. He is more explosive than Hazelton and has good upside as a power running forward. He played 19 minutes and made 9 runs for 80 metres with 37 post contact. He has 8 tackles, missed 1 and made an error. I was watching his defence last night and his contact is not good. He gets pushed back too easily for someone of his size. This is not unexpected for a rookie and will be worked on but fans see the flashy stuff.

In our best pack, Tuks is a closer comparison to Hunt as a power runner in short stints as the 4th prop. Hazelton is being developed into a 3rd prop who can cover minutes if needed.
