seriously, even if we fluke the 8, we'll be punished in the finals. this year is about enjoying the improvements in our weaknesses.

Read the opening thread.

Mate I saw the thread title and refused to read the OP. I'm not wasting my time on that kind of negative shit.

The only reason I still read your whiny posts is because you throw in the odd tidbit of considered opinion.

Your kidding aren't you? The bloke has been around long enough ... you jump in the deep end, be prepared to swim.

Baring injury etc, it seems a very (very) odd decision to leave Hindy on the bench

So u think he should be punted as coach?

What I'm saying is it's stupid to blame the coach entirely

He still has to learn our roster and what our players r capable of

His decision to take hindy off was bizarre I agree on that

But I'm sick of ppl blaming the coach

It's frustrating watching our team lose yes but we already knew this year was going to be a long one

What will that achieve...few more wins? yeah and what? Another short time fix to keep fans happy, until next year where we will be toilers again..

Its obvious Kearney has a plan...a structure he wants players to play and it is essential to start that play now...
Yes it will mean we look ordinary at times but it will benefit us!
Let them learn now how we are to play, then when we get a few players...plugging them into the system will be much easier then starting the system all over again next year...

I look at this year as a big pre-season and already i see positives...

Good post.

So in other words he thinks this season is a write off? If that's the case at come out and tell us so we don't waste money on tickets for this season.

This is a fair point and I feel for the fans who are still hopeful for this year.

But if the club is to remain viable it needs support, particularly financial support. Would the club get that support if it came out and said this year's a write-off? I don't think so.

Anyway, in three of our losses this year we've been highly competitive in the first half and fallen away in the second. So we're doing something right.

As for what's going wrong, I don't think we can blame it on fitness. I think we just have a few players who lack mental strength.

Those merkins have gotta go.

I think its a good idea to have someone like Hindy rested but Rogers should not replace him, maybe someone like Shakelton.

I would drop Rogers and be tempted to bring up Matuia straight to the bench, we are also missing Poore.

Cant wait to have the pack and bench looking a bit like

8 Mannah
9 MaGuire
10 Poore
11 Hindmarsh
12 Matuia
13 Smith

14 MK
15 Shak
16 Fui
17 Webb/Allgood

that would be so much more reliable, ATM Allgood is getting dominated after a bright start, shak is finding is probably to light weight to be an out and out prop and Horo/Lasalo are inconsistant although Lasalo was quiet good tonight but should play 80 on the edge tbh, edge backrowers shouldnt have to get interchanged.

While I kind of agree with what you say. The Game of rugby league changes so much over the years. You cannot really develop a structure in the hope that in 2 to 3 years time you'll have success. The reason why is that subtle rule changes etc mean the game could be played in a totally different way in 2014 and a 2011 structure is useless in those cases.

f**k me! - you either didn't watch or you are the most optimistic bastard on these boards

I am probably the most optimistic bastard on these boards but that is beside the point.

- when the game was won?

I said 'when it looked like the game was won'. And with a 16 point lead with 30 minutes to go you could be forgiven for thinking we could hold that lead - the Cowboys had scored 10 points in the first 50.

wtf?! :sarcasm: .... i'm pretty sure token minutes is less than 18 too

Given that Rogers is in the team to cover McGuire's spot in the defensive line if he (McGuire) goes off I assume Kearney trusts Rogers' ability to defend.

You could hardly blame Billy Rogers for our defensive lapses out wide and Thurston's awesome kicking game.

This is true...although you need solid foundations to begin with and parra have lacked that from some time now...
Once we can build this base...we can accomodate other plays into our game!
Our goal is to be structured like a dragons/storm...we have shown with our crap roster we can do it for parts of the game!

We need to sleep, eat, dream and play this structure....so hopefully in 12 months time its in our instinct...

But they don't change overnight mate, they evolve.

The only people who don't keep up with new developments are the dopey fans who only watch the action around the ball. Everybody else follows what's going on, especially coaches, who get paid to watch a lot of video and analyse structure.

They notice trends changing long before the fans do. Plus they all talk to each other. You obviously think Kearney's a dope for whatever reason but I guarantee he'll stay on top of any new tactical development. It's a trait of successful people that they're always looking to improve themselves.

So a coach doesn't need to innovate to be successful - the innovators get copied very quickly.

Agree with all of this except for Lasalo. In my opinion he has been average at best.

I'm willing to give SK the three years DA should have had...but he isn't making a great impression on me thus far.

For 55 mins Kearney looked like a genius, but with no ball and Thurston runnng riot he looked like a dope. This season was always going to be a tough one so Kearney should have a chance to see what sort of team he can build. Sandow is a massive start, our halves are the worst in the comp and a fit Poore,Webb and Matuia would make a massive difference. But this Rogers selection is really starting to do my head in
