If the club are truly serious about turning the club around the one bloke who would make a massive difference is Tony Zappia. Sure, his appointment would bring more unwanted scrutiny from the media but he is one of the smartest operators in the game and would be a huge benefit for Kearney. bring him in as football manager. I am sure that more than a few would agree with me that he was a bigger loss than Noel Cleal.

Fully agree but the do gooders would just use it against the board.

Please not Zappia. Yes he may have a great skillset but he has too much baggage whether warranted or not.

You don't have to be a 'do gooder' to know a grub when you see one.

There's no doubt they wanted Zappia back but even this board was smart enough to not go down that road.... yet.

I've been saying that for a few months now. Zappia as football manager.
His served his time for his incident at the sharks.

It would make more sense not to bring him in I agree. But it makes a hell of a lot more sEnse to have him involved. F**k the media. They'll find something wrong regardless.

As much as I think Zappia is a grub I think we could really use him right now. Desperate times call for desperate measures. We need someone with a bit of football knowledge to cover such roles, Bob Bentley doesn't have that. I can't see us improving until we get someone like Zappia involved.

Zappia is well respected by the managers , and still in contact with players too

Possibly the flack that the club would get from DFs mouthpiece, moaning and carrying on, is enough to make it unlikely. Would be the best thing to happen to player negotiations for him to work alongside Nolan, I believe that without any doubt, but cant see it happening

What I don't get is who would actually care?? The media? F**k them!

The average fan would have no idea about who he is, or care.

If he can help us, bring him in, the media will hammer us anyway, when we get back on track, no one will give a f**k what he allegedly did to that woman.....scandal hasn't halted Birds career one bit!

I say the board, if they want him, should bring him in!!!

Interesting comment Parra Ads, do you know him personally or worked with him?

My recollection was that an independent report cleared him and in his time at Parramatta he was able to do the following:
  • Maintain confidentiality with Player recruitment
  • Excellent liaison with managers, parents and Junior League
  • Signed or re-signed- Riddell, Tahu, Ben Smith, Morris, Taylor,MoiMoi, Mannah,Smith, Hayne, Inu, Mateo,Burt, Grothe, Williams,Maloney etc
  • Good rapport with players and members
The bloke is not a grub he is what Parramatta needs now, someone who knows the club, district and respected by players!

He worked under DF!

Ollie, DF hates Spags more than he likes Zappia

Raaay would always go in and try to discredit Spags, and what a good target he would be, myself I think if he is good for the club , stuff the criticism and go with it

Exactly right Delboy, whichever way we go the club will be criticised in the media. May as well get criticised for something that will benefit the club.

The only thing I know about him is the sexual harassment incident. What's so good about him that we would want that kind of baggage at the club?

Didn't want to create another Kearney thread but how many more losses would you think it would take before Kearney is shown the door ?
