Honestly, what's the difference between getting the spoon or coming second or third last?

Is it worse to win six games and finish 14th one year or win eight games and run last in a tighter competition?

The fact is we're shit this year. Winning the spoon or not won't change that. If you think we're shit because of the coach then he should be sacked regardless of whether or not we win the spoon.

Likewise if you think we're shit because of deep structural issues then avoiding the spoon won't change that. Only time and a strong plan will.

Please, Just answer my question.

nobody could acuse me of being either but to be fair, taking last year as an example with the spoon being 16 pts.
What would you say if we got the spoon by winning the last 5 games and by some miracle the team looked like a competitve unit?

Too little too late. He's proved he can't win when it matters. We were essentially spooners last year, we only finished 1 point above last. Since Kearney has been in charge we've accumulated a wopping 19 competition points over nearly 1 and a half seasons.

It is always worse to run last.

And how is this year tighter than last year? I think the bottom (us) is further behind and the top (storm) are further in front than at the same point last year.....

The Game Plan is a top show. Even though he can't coach you have to admire Kearney's courage to front. It could be a short interview if he was banned from saying the words 'lads' or 'structure.'

The board are stubborn and ignorant but hope he can turn it around so they don't look like fools that have on 2 occasions lost money in coach payouts. They are now just looking after their own arse. Watch them pay overs for SBW to deflect the real situation ie Kearney can't coach and they made a huge mistake in firing a real coach and replacing him with an overrated rookie.

I would have to agree with this 1000000% ... this is exactly how I see it.
They made a call and are sticking by it in the hope some miracle happens (hey '09 happened).

Although I don't think we'll get SBW in any way shape or form.

Having said that, I don't see much to be gained sacking him right now - this season is f**ked anyway. The most disappointing thing is we were competing last year, this year we seem totally lost most of the time. We have gone backwards - alot!

Only thing to save SK is being competative the 2nd half of the year - competative for whole bloody games, not the last 20 mins! ... and a good start to next year. Anything less, bye bye.

One other thing I thought I'd asked, may have already been asked. Do you think William Hopoate might have something in his contract allowing him to bail under certain conditions, ie change of coach, so the board are too scared to see that happen? (cos its about all that has gone well in the last 3 years).

Re: Hopoate and his potential clause re SK. I don't think so seeing he starts in 2014. Kearney's current deal ends in 2013. How could Kearney have assured him that he would still be the coach?

personally, no I wouldn't

I dont think we can keep changing coaches, we need some stability and we need to give him a chance to build a squad

so if you were a Souths fan 10 years ago, you would've said the same thing about Langmack right? lol

we've already got a squad now, too early to say what will happen next year

You said it!

So why do we need time? he has been in charge for almost 2 years now, Rugby League isn't rocket science, it is a quite basic game, any structures or any changes etc would have been implemented and gelled along time ago, their simply is no excuse.

That would be a pretty stupid clause to include when you consider Hopoate's deal doesn't even start until SK's current contract ends.

He's had time to build his squad though. And he's failing with it.

Isn't he now claiming that our salary cap position and the "culture" was in a far worse state than first anticipated ? Hence the revised KPI's ?

sounds logical, but who knows .... and if our club looks a rabble and hoppa has some sort of clauses, he might get cold feet and try and use anything possible to find a better place
