The worst human resource decision parramatta made was not the acquisition of a player, but rather the failure to retain one for less than a song. In 2009, parramatta couldn't win a game for love or money. Then they brought Kevin Kingston into first grade. His impact from the bench out of dummy half compressed a number of defences and gave Hayne, and Mortimer, room to move wider. Kingston left the next year for Penrith because Parra failed to make an offer, and parra haven't been the same since.
Parramatta should never have gone for Sandow and Roberts. What they had there in Mortimer and Robson was fine.....what they needed was a dummy half who could give them some impetus.....the 550k should have been directed at De Gois or Luke both of whom were off contract last year....had they done that, they'd be a very different side this year.....
The fact that Kearney has failed to identify this illuminates his shortcomings as a coach.....
