KEARY all but confirmed

Didn't the Keary camp say today he has offers from Dragons , Storm and Roosters and he wants to go to a club where he can play his best football ? Also said he will decide within 2 weeks

Trying to gain leverage and buy enough time for the Storm and Roosters (or anyone else) to field competitive offers. We are clearly in the position to offer Keary the most money and a more primary role, no other club is going to offer what we can. Mind you we might just offer him something low enough that another club can get close enough to see him sign elsewhere.

Have a awful feeling that you are right ,I believe that either the Roosters or even the Bull thugs may make a last minute offer to him .Of the 2 he would more than likely take the Roosters offer ,even if it is less than ours .

I would be going with the Storm if I was him . A chance to play 5/8 with Cronk at half . Even if the offer was below the others he will end up a far better footballer in the Storm's set up .

I'm betting Keary not come and somehow Doust will f**k this.

Not that I'm a fan of Keary anyway but seems some of you do think he is a marquee type.

But we got Widdop, he too played his best footy as a former stormer .

How will 'Doust f**k this'?
Our offer has been on the table for a while now. We are waiting on Keary.

Storm's grabbing Nikorima as they're planning for him to be their long term future 6/7. Roosters won't grab Keary as his style is similar to both Pearce and Hastings, which is why Hastings isn't playing first grade when their at full strength.

This is why were lowballing Keary and making sure were not throwing overs at him as he has a lack of options in the NRL. Which I commend if we do indeed get him, as by paying overs on potential or even average players is what got the Knights in their current rut.

Whilst I appreciate that the entire Dragon's management and coaching staff are mentally geniused; surely even this band of "special people" would not sign a young half-back (in a position we are woefully deficient) and play him at hooker?

Having said that; this is the same special group of staff who have selected the exact same team to play Melbourne that took on the Dog's. Benji is still there. Flo is still playing at fullback. Cooper (who is big hearted but leaving) is still keeping young Host from gaining some decent 1st grade exposure and so on and so on and so on.

It really starting to feel like a relapse into the dark terrible days of the "Steve Price Regime". And those years my friends were very depressing.

Anyway another day and another dollar. How good would the monthly board meeting be? Idiots speaking to idiots; but all getting a bloody good feed in the directors dining room.

Marketo is the one keeping Host out.

Keary is NO marque player bud.
No where near it.

From all reports he dropped his asking price by half. Again from all reports, we have offered him the most.

Unless there is some other intel, i think his options are limited.

Personally, dont care whether he signs or not.

True

I actually think Keary will go alright as he has some speed and can be very elusive.

The trouble is with the rest of the plodding backline we have who will support any breaks he makes?

Maybe he runs in behind the enemy lines and then runs back to our draught horses to show them the way?

I think Mann is the key to that so he has to be either paired with Keary in the halves or moved back to the centres.

My real fear is that we may be protracting this negotiation and trying to buy time to see what Hastings is doing as he may be the real target.

I surely hope that is not the case as I do not believe Hastings can provide any answers for our team especially with the roster we currently have and I believe he would potentially be a big head again.

Anyway lets hope some news is at hand quickly one way or the other.

Good call mate.

The lack of speed, agility and elusiveness in our backline is a sad state of affairs. Keary would be a great start, and you're right about Mann, he has some potential, just needs some game time and confidence. Aitken too will likely turn into a good'un with more experience.

If Milne and Dufty can develop, we have ability to unleash some speed in our backiline.

But for the rest of the year, we'll just have to try and get by with slowest backline in the comp.

God that's a lot of ifs and maybes...I see potential too but it's high time we sign one proven quality player who isn't some washed up has been or canberra reject. This hasn't happened post Bennett.

I hear you, but it has to start somewhere.

Recruitment has been poor and none of our recruits have improved under our watch and most have gone backwards. No juniors of note have stepped up (Aitken excluded) and when juniors who can cut it get make a case, we can't hold on to them (Bird and Hastings).

We've spent over $2m on a spine that delivers just over 12 points a game. Only the Knights are worse.

Recruitment and player development have been an absolute disaster. It's actually amazing we've won 6 games, and each of those wins have been 6 points or less, scrambling to hold on.

We could easily be contending for the spoon right about now.

100%. I thought Mann would be the gun in that bunch but MARY has f**ked the kid.

I just dont think Mann is going to be more than another average player, that's all he ever looked, yet a lot on here had him as the next big thing .

Well considering he can play every position in the backline, has speed and is currently doing an awesome job in a position that he is brand new to, I think he will be pretty good. Seems to have a footy brain and the speed and skill to back it up.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he will be the next immortal, but he will be an exceptional first grader for many years to come.
