Bird and Hastings played for us but since then Hastings has gone the wrong way in his career. I don’t see him lasting to long in the NRL. He will end up in the super league.
Bird looks like he has lost interest in the game. Last night he failed to produce anything and got hooked.
I think his biggest mistake was going to the Broncos.

I think both these players are a full of themselves ....... That's their problem . And when you have 2 players that are full of themselves DCE , Hastings then you have a bigger problem .....

His bank account disagrees with you.

Geez he was poor wasn't he! Looks like he has lost his mojo big time. Reminds me of an unfit kid being made to do something he's not interested in rather than doing something he loves doing. Could be some homesickness involved by the look of his attitude, he just doesn't seem to want to be there.

To me , if you go around the clubs and see the performances they are getting from some of the big name signings , demonstrates how well Millward has done in not paying overs and standing on his dig in contract renewals. There's not many in our group, perhaps Lafai and McDonald last year. Mind you how they are performing come finals time is the crux of it.

You have to include Woods, Tedesco and Cronk. They have not set the world on fire with their new clubs.
Then we look at Hunt and Graham. Their arrival has been priceless.
Hats off to Millward. But he needs to work his magic and get one maybe two forwards next season.
I don’t know whether anything will eventuate with that English forward that we were linked to a while ago

I think we will land Sims from Broncos that's my hunch - we lose LAM we need another prop hopefully not Glasby!

There's too much premature 'e-jubilation' (sic) in this thread for my liking.

Let's not kid ourselves here; Saints have been in the position twice under McGregor and have faltered on both occasions.

Rubber stamping any extension is accepting mediocrity, which has plagued the Club for years.

No thanks. Win the premiership first, then, get back to me.
For sure I agree with you, but maybe we should lay off until, heaven forbid it......we falter.

(Geeze I hope we don't)

Pls let's not give Mary any thought if an extension, are people saying that?

We would have to make the TOP 2 for me to even think that.

Any one talking extensions now need to book in to a shrink.

I am starting this thread because I honestly believe this. For the following reasons
1. Like many other clubs he had a new half, 5/8 combo to coach. Ours have been the most successful, easily. It is common knowledge that he persuaded Hunt to come to the club, after all Hunt could have gone where he liked and got the same money.
2. He has got the best out of Vaughan and Sims.
3. People on this forum wanted him and Millard gone when they refused to give Dugan what he wanted. He and Millward were right.
4. He has had the balls to admit he is still learing the role.
5. People who have forgotten more about football than any of us would know, Phil GOULD, believe he is doing a fantastic job
6. Lastly but most importantly, look at the players concentration at half time in the sheds when he is talking. They take in every word he says. Vaughan, Frizzell and Sims idolise the guy.
O’Kay I am ready for it. I have my Ned Kelly body armour on, give it to me both barrels

What calm one said...
Could be true
Not probably, but could be!

After all, Winston Churchill stuffed up Gallipoli....but still helped win world war 2 as P.M.

That's a bigger miracle than Mary!

Churchill would have happily sacrificed our troops after the fall of Singapore and had scant regard for us being under threat from Japan
Curtin’s Intervention and superior leadership prevented Churchill from making another blunder.

Churchill was prepared to let the japs invade and we would draw a line and defend the bottom half of Australia. MacArthur was in Australia not long after.
The japs did sink a boat in sydney harbour and a shell was mobbed over at Bondi. Landed in Wellington Street but failed to go off.
Churchill was responsible for some of the carnage in WW1. My father hated him as did a lot of vets

Wow not too many would know about the Wellington St bomb
An old work associate of mine when he was a kid had his and his mates photo in the newspaper sitting in the crater left from that bomb landing
He and his mate later on got some old bits of scrap metal and sold them as “genuine pieces of a jap bomb”
He told me lots of stories of the neighbourhood especially about “Billy the Pigs Pub”

My uncle’s brother at one time was the publican at Billy The Pigs. Wellington Street and O’Brien Street was where Graham Thorne was kidnaped. I grew up in O’Brien street. Things changed for everyone after that

Terribly tragic case and I was only young myself when Thorne was kidnapped but I know my parents were very uneasy and made sure they knew where me and my 2 siblings were at all times.

My old mates aunty used to be a cook at Billy's during the war years.
It used to be the home of big Calcutta's for the Melbourne Cup not so sure these days.

By the way wouldn't your uncles brother also be your uncle?
