Jeremy Smith not going for personal reasons??

I wonder if that's a nice way of saying we can't afford to lose a player if the ASADA report is supposed to be released midway through the tournament.

I'm disappointed in SBW. He turns his back on his country, yet no one in NZ but us league fans will bat an eye-lid. All the NZ public cares about is him coming back and playing for the All Blacks. They forget the kiwis represent us too. If he turned down the All Blacks for the 2015 world cup there would be a major outcry.

Anyway f**k it. We can still win it without him.

1. Hoffman
2. Tuivasa-Sheck
3. Whare
4. Inu
5. Vatuvei
6. Foran
7. Johnson
8. Waerea-Hargreaves
9. Luke
10. Bromwich
11. Pritchard
12. Mannering
13. Glenn

14. Kasiano
15. Matulino
16. Nu'uausala
17. Leuluai

I don't think Taylor should have made the tour. He's obviously a Kearney fav though.

Yep that's pretty close to the team I reckon. Harris/Eastwood/FPN competing for a spot.

I gave up on SBW doing "the right thing" back in 2008 because I still believe that what he did was totally inexcusable and unacceptable. Since then I've only focused on what he does on the field because I love what he brings as a player.

Nevertheless I must admit it does bug me that a kid who grew up a full-blown leaguie has lost interest in playing for the Kiwis, when that passion was clearly there at the start of his career.

At first I was thinking I could understand it if he was back off to Union, but then again last season he played Union in Japan before heading to the Roosters during the same time period as this WC.

I'll throw a conspiracy theory in to the mix...

Maybe he's gonna sign with the NZRU... and go on the northern hemisphere tour in a month.

Conrad Smith won't be there because he's on sabbatical... So him and Nonu could be in the midfield. I know they were trying to find someone to plug that hole for that tour.

Jeez that is a great prop rotation. Burgess/Burgess/Graham for the Brits and JWH, Kasiano, Matulino (still so underrated) and Bromwich for the Kiwis, Australia are probably a step behind in the front row department. Fifita is the only one in good form.

Disappointing there's no Smith. Didn't expect $BW to sack up anyway.

The Kiwi's don't have the pull that the AB's do. Like it or not we need SBW more than he needs us. If delaying the squad by a day means we give it a good crack of convincing him to play then I'd say it's worth it.

He would be the difference between us being a decent chance and a very good chance of winning the WC.

WHAT! Depends where and who you are mate. In NZ, yes, amongst a misguided and totally patriotic public, who rely on a single team to keep their self esteem up. Rugby, is the main sport in only NZ and the pacific islands. Elsewhere, like league, is a second and third rate sport.

In Oz, Rugby is a nowhere sport, played by virtual no-names which struggles for attention!

Man, that statement is giving me heart palpitations.

And it is certainly not true in my book. If my son ran out for the Kiwis, my chest would puff with pride. If he played for the All Blacks, I would regret that he didn't play for the kiwis.

Moa is unlikely to get in the final 17 IMO. JWH, Bromwich, Kasiano and Matulino should be the 4 props picked.

Moa is so much better than Kasiano it's not funny. McKendry should have been picked over Kasiano.

And who gives a shit about SBW if he doesn't want to be part of our game we don't need him in our world cup.

1. Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Hoffman
3. Inu
4. Whare
5. Nightingale
6. Foran
7. Johnson
8. Bromwich
9. Luke
10. Moa
11. Mannering
12. Pritchard
13. Eastwood

14. Glenn
15. Nu'uasala
16. Matulino
17. Waerea-Hargreaves

Surprised Locke and Vatuvei made it.
I suppose Hoffman will be fullback but Tuivasa-Sheck is almost too good not to have there.

SBW tweeted his support for the Kiwis and said he is going to be doing......nothing.

He's not playing because he's "taking a break".

Gotta say that made my blood boil just a little.

Like I said, we don't need people like that in our game.

Apparently taking a break is more important than helping your country and your countrymen to a World Cup victory.

Mate it's wasn't a crack at league or the Kiwis it's just a statement of fact. The AB's are a global brand who play more international games with more prestige and have a crapload more money. Obviously that's a big reason why SBW isn't playing which was basically the point I was making. Because those things are important to him. He was more than happy to play for the AB's in the World Cup because of all those things that are in their favour.

The Kiwi's don't have those things, they may be more important to you personally than the AB's but that doesn't change that fact.

Yeah I saw that. "I'm taking my first break since 2008"...Whatever that means :?

First break since...the time of the last WC. Should have played. A major disappointment for the tournament.

He'll have a boxing match in the works.

I hope so. For me, making some sort of headway in boxing is by far the most exciting thing he could do besides winning the RLWC. I don't get all the hype around winning an Olympic Gold medal, at the end of the day the only people who will care about that are the same people who care about rugby union anyway. It's still just a "rugby" achievement, not a "global sporting achievement".

I just saw some Salford fan had written on twitter "Just checking, if the Foran in the Kiwis squad Liam or Kieran?":lol:
