Knights make cashed up bid for Origin players Snowden and TLL

not taking the piss but both would be absolute walk up starts for the knights. As it stands Brett White, who would be easily your best front rower, is our 3rd maybe even 4th best front rower. And you are off the planet if you think 6. Mullen 7. Orford wouldnt be more dangerous than having a rook like Henry or Rogers in the halves.
Glad to see you are still a self parody after all this time. White's better than Costigan is he? Clearly you are the only one in the world who thinks so.

Not considering any of the drama related to his contract, does anyone believe Kade Snowden is worth $400k a season? I actually think his front row partner Luke Douglas is just as good, and probably more consistent, but doesn't attract anywhere near the praise or rep opportunities.

lol Love the way Luke Douglas has put his hand up and is reminding everyone of the 'get out clause' in his contract. See Tinkler may do all the chasing now but give it a year and players will be knocking on our door wanting to play for the club, providing he takes over of course.

We sign Snowden and TLL will be like oh wait a minute, the Knights are forming quite the forward pack now plus my Origin buddy is there, I think I'll sign with them thanks Mr Manager. Then James Graham sees we have guys like TLL, Snowden, Taia, Costigan, Houston, Paterson and thinks, oh thats quite the pack, I think I might be the cherry on top, get in contact with those guys thanks Mr. Manager and BOOM, the next thing we know we have the best forward pack running around.

We need a change in ownership before that happens.

Statement from Knight's CEO Steve Burraston

The Newcastle Knights’ Chief Executive Officer Steve Burraston makes the following statement in light of today’s media surrounding Kade Snowden’s playing future.

Today’s media is advising that a third party was involved with Kade Snowden to secure his services for the Newcastle Knights.
We would like it clearly understood that we do not know who this third party is.
If the allegations are correct, that third party operated independent to and without the knowledge or approval of the Newcastle Knights board and management.
The Newcastle Knights further confirm that the offer to Kade Snowden was withdrawn and no further negotiations have taken place following Wednesday 9 February. To pursue Kade Snowden would cause significant salary cap issues for the club.

So what, we don't have money to spend for 2012? If that's the case and Tinkler doesn't get voted for, I'm honestly going to struggle to support the club. I don't care how bad that sounds, if we aren't prepared to make the team stronger anytime soon then what's the point in watching them miss the 8 year after year.

The Newcastle board have shown their hand salary cap wise.

It will have alerted a lot of Clubs that you don't have a lot of room to move.

The Sharks will have some money to spend for 2012.

I hope they go looking up Newcastle way for recruits.

Have you heard of third party payments?

That's if they're still around...

Haha... people like you have been saying that for the past 20 years!

But you know what Dopey Delaney I'd be more concerned as a Knight's supporter about your own future.

Sugar Daddy's can be unreliable at times.

Big Ego's and other distraction can derail private ownership at any time.

Pray your Club doesn't get in the shyte because I'll be the first to push your grubby nose in it!

a. The club has consistently rolled out the "we have little or no room under the cap" line for months now. Old news that every club is aware of.

b. Good for the Sharks, it's nice to have money as we have found out.

c. Please take some of our players next season, there are a number I'd like to see go.

Thats probably because they are keeping money aside for guys like Gidley, DeGois, Sau and Hilder.

But I suppose your backline could improve with guys like Naiqama, McDonnell, Lulia, if they are squeezed out.

If we sign Snowden, we'd most likely let guys like Ciraldo, Southern and maybe Karawana go. As a quality 50-60min/game prop will free up guys like Housten/Costigan/Taufua to play backrow full time.
