Ainscough is not the worst Knights player to represent state or country - that has to go to Brad Godden...

Ainscough at his best was a good player - but he did some stupid things in his time as well.
He cost us some important games with stupid decisions at crucial times.

Lenny Beckett is definitely at the top of my list. Troy Fletcher is another one. Last but not least, Mat Parsons, god I cringed every time he got the ball. I always thought he was much better suited to Souths and should have stayed there.

I really didnt take to david boyd in the early yrs.Tried to hard to be a tuff guy and wasnt good with his hands.
I didnt like how johns Schuster deserted the club..he was probably out first real superstar and left us chasing dollars.
Rudder tried hard but he was a manufactured player..and lets remember he did put up a pin point bomb that landed pefrectly for kennedy to catch and score vs Cronulla in 2001 final otherwise we were gooorrrnnnnn!

hagan as a player..only had one single move.A play out the back dummy runner that was soooo easy to read you could see it unfolding from the hill.

That one good kick rudder did in his career didn't save us the game. We were coming home strong and weren't we already infront when he did that kick?

We paid John Schuster bugger all compared to what he was worth, and without him we weren't getting anywhere close to where we finished in 1992. He's right up there with Matt Gidley in the best Centres to play with the club - I have no beef with him.

Parsons was great for us. He was leading our forward pack for a while and was a fantastic signing from Souths.

I also liked Lenny Beckett. He used to do lots of dummy half work and was a strong ball runner.

There's one game etched in my memory forever against the Roosters when Beckett stood up Anthony Minichiello (playing on the wing) 3 times for 3 clean line breaks. On each occassion, he took the ball with some space, 1 on 1, and just beat him on the outside. At that point I remember thinking how this Minichiello bloke won't last long - needless to say he improved.

If you think we would've won the 2001 premiership without Pasro in the side you are kidding yourself. He was almost picked for Australia that year. He was the best prop in the comp all year in 2001. I remind you that was the year Daisy left for England so it was a huge hole to fill and he did it well.

Heres a team with that "cringe" factor that could drive you to insanity through frustration :

1. O'Davis/ Brian Quintin
2. Justin Ryder
3. Jamie Ainscough
4. George Carmont
5. Tony Herman
6. Sean Rudder
7. Dane Campbell
8. Matt Kennedy
9. Scott Carter
10. 2005 Josh Perry
11. Peter Shiels
12. Kurt Reynoldson
13. Regan Tanner

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

Granted the half-back was the hardest spot to fill- I'll concede and take him out. who should be there then? Maybe one season Matt Rodwell, or maybe there was another guy (not Leo) in the Johns era who stood in when Joe was injured (I got a feeling that his name started with a H but I just cant remember)- maybe he should take the 7 jersey?

I think it was Justin Holdsworth or Holdsworthy or something?

Great find I had completely forgotten about him (maybe a case of blotting the memory out on purpose).Holbrook was full of mistakes and out of his depth but Witt was probably more inept. I'll go with you JM and settle on Witt at half.:D

What exactly was wrong with Brett Grogan? He was pretty decent in a time where our backline was pretty ordinary...

Precisely. I have never understood those who didn't like Groges -- he was nimble, reasonably quick and a pretty solid player. I can't ever recall there being this much ill-feeling when he was playing... were these people around when he was playing?

I nearly forgot about Steve Witt. He was shocking when he filled in. But i have to say he did have gigantic boots to fill. I still have not let go of the fact that he cost us the game against the Raiders i think, where he missed a field goal ten metres out right in front. He actually didn't just miss, the ball sliced so bad it barely made the required ten metres.
