Why write off one of best ball runners by throwing him into hooker?

1. His defence will let him down.
2. They shift the ball around, tackle, and run. That's the idea. Same as they ever did. Of course they run the ball, but so does everyone else on the field. Gidley's strength is his kick return and broken field running. By putting him into hooker we lose that.
