Knights V Roosters Match Thread

Great game tonight, everybody had excellent contribution. :D

Loving Vuna's work, he should retain his spot over Uate IMO, played all over them with some damaging runs early in sets, and some good footwork to set up some breaks.

Loving the depth that Smith has built into the team, look at our sidelined players, in years gone by we would have had that scoreline reversed on us with that amount of quality out.

Keep it up guys.

2 Missed tackles, 9 Line Breaks, 157 runs for 1575 metres, God damn, what a game.

Uate can go fish for millions elsewhere if he doesn't want to be a part of a winning culture that bred him. Vuna showed his class (class I'd written off stupidly, and, while 5kg overweight without a game to him all season).

Roosters were starved of possession and hurt by the refs and injuries, scoreline was flattering to them considering our dominance. Now, to continue the momentum.

Woo for 2nd place just quietly.

However (and this isn't meant as a stir or anything or a dig at any player) I still think the halves issue is far from solved. Mullen is a natural 6. We need to find a 7.

Yeah he seems to be going great down in Penrith!

Did anyone just see the try he set up for the Panthers in the 27th minute?

All bias and bullsh*t aside, he showed more class and skill in 1 play than our back up half has shown in a career.

f**k. I didn't have him as captain but how dare Gidley drop that sitter :fist:

Great game though :D 38 - 6 even with a few stuffed up chances.

Don't worry too much about it. 99 times out of 100 he'd swallow that.

Fantastic performance all round. 32 point margin will do our differential a world of good too.

Imho people are still underestimating Rogers big time. I believe his attacking prowess more than off-sets the fact that it shifts Mullo to half. I definitely believe Mullo/Rogers can be a more potent combination than Walsh/Mullo or Dureau/Mullo. It wouldn't surprise if Walsh turns out to be better than Dureau in the long run, but he was always going to be too expensive to keep as a second-stringer.

I thought Rogers was again very good tonight.

He was close to getting my 1 point in KOTW, but a few errors ( including yet another 2 penalties in the ruck ) ruined any chance of that.

Especially with Mullens 2nd half.

Mullen deadset looks more and more like Joey on the field every week. From the way he shows the ball , his dummy pumps, his body shape, and the way he runs.

You can clearly see the massive influence Andrew Johns still has on this team with his coaching sessions he does with the Knights.

I know its fairly subtle to notice, but when Rogers and Mullen play together in the halves, the attack is always MUCH MUCH straighter in general, and the angle running by the wide running attacking players running off them is basically perfect.

Andrew Johns coaching would have a bit to do with the positioning of the ball in their hands, and the angle they direct the attack.

Rogers, is making me eat my words.

I'll wait another couple weeks (largely until we play a better team), but with Kurt, De Gois and Mullen, Rogers only needs to be a runner and passer, something he has been excelling at. Credit where it's due, we looked perfect tonight, and Rogers was a big finishing part of that.

I noticed you and the other Dureau hater were quick to get your snide comments, get on you know who's nuts as well as fire the first salvos in the weekly game thread for the 2nd week in a row - poor form.

Not really man.

Dureau is pure sh*t. Rogers can sometimes be not much better, but credit where it's due mate.

If you're watching the Penrith game you'll know exactly what I'm talking about re Walsh as well.

Gidley also acted like a play-maker tonight and actually pulled it off too, fantastic effort by him all round.

That first Line break of Gidley's that led to the Mullen try was like Penrith last year. Un-f**king-believable. His running game has been average this year, great hit back tonight, he gets the final try, the RLW 10/10 that eluded him after the Penrith game would be his.

For goodness sake...does yet another game thread have to degrade into a Dureau Fan Club v everybody else battle?

Lets face it...he wasn't missed tonight. Rogers had a fine game - albeit with a few errors. Dureau does not even need to be mentioned - he had no involvement. Enough of the pot shots.

Oh also I think it might be safe Smith is coaching that left winger to run sideways...

Great game.

If our backline players stay fit Uate will only get another look if McManus plays SOO. Vuna may not have the same speed as Uate, but he is a much better footballer.

Can we have a hold on the Walsh v Rogers v Dureau debate after such a great win? Or are there too many agenda's and 1up's to take care of?

Not even bothering with the first part of that post...

I have been making an effort to watch at least parts of Penrith games of late for obvious reasons, but I doubt I'll ever see what you think!

Alex - Just went back a few pages and I have an apology to make, went off a bit half cocked...but all the same I'm pretty sure you were up to tricks last week :p

He has to be!!!!

It was unbeleivable. Both our left wingers were going straight infield for the past few weeks.

why are you starting a piss off uate campaign!?! Sure vuna had a fantastic game and uate was very lack-lustre in his last against the titans but c'mon, we've all been talking about how important uate is to keep. He rejected his first offer but most players do. Still need to resign him imo

I wish we could too! Seriously, when was the last time we won a game - any game - by 32 points?

There's nothing wrong with the halves as they were tonight yet people still want to push their favourite halfbacks cause.

The Dureau fan club, are really having difficulty coming to grips with reality.

Try taking down the Dureau posters on your wall, and remove the blinkers in the process and it might make it a bit easier.

Still need to resign him, but Vuna has a football brain that Uate is yet to develop.

I wish we could too! Everytime Rogers plays well , there's still sh*t thrown at him, which naturally leads the rest of us to respond. Seriously, when was the last time we won a game - any game - by 32 points?

I havent read back through the thread, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but sh*t was thrown at a guy that didnt even play this week, not the other way around.
