I'll preface what I'm about to say with a "I didn't see a single second of the game, thank christ", but by gee Rogers must have had a good game :sarcasm:

Sorry, I had to

Ok time for some stats from last night:

Runs
McDonnell 155m, most dummy half metres (36), with 86 of those on the kick return, 8 tackle breaks
Taia 137m, most metres from general runs (70m from 6 runs)
Rogers 99m, most metres from 1st reciever (51 from 6), 4 tackle breaks
Uate 94m, 5 tackle breaks
Wicks also made 6 tackle breaks, which is pretty handy given he only took 8 runs in the whole game!

Tackles
Hilder 71 (missed 4)
De Gois 64 (missed 5)
Simpson 44 (missed 2)
Houston 31 (missed 5)
Mark T also made 26 tackles with zero missed, and Fa'aoso 24 with 1 missed.

Errors
3 - McDonnell and Mullen
2 - Rogers, Sau, Naiqama, Fa'aoso

Same thing happened to the Warriors.

I jokingly said I hope the same doesn't happen to us... :x

Now that I have watched the game I am a little taken aback by how negative some of the posters have been on here, especially about certain players and their performances.

Here's my take, if anyones interested.

1.McDonnell - Had 1 really bad play (the left ball that Manu almost scored off) and 1 dropped play the ball of which he was not alone in committing. Other than that he ran the ball strongly often beating 1-2 tackles and his positioning was excellent. Overall I thought he had a fantastic game.

2.McManus - Well he lasted about 6 minutes so nothing to say really

3. Sau - Aside from a dropped ball or 2 he had a solid game, making hard runs but agian rarely feeding his outside man

4. Naiquama - Was guilty of 1 dropped ball but aside from that was very strong in defence and was superb under the high ball. He ran sideways a bit but also made some good solid metres

5. Uate - Was quiet for most of the 1st half, made a hair pulling decision to let that kick bounce in the in goal but when he did run straight he bent the line and bent it well.

6. Rogers - Needed longer studs to get better footing but overall his defence was strong, showed great urgency to snatch a crucial turnover and when he ran like a back rower (maybe thats where he needs to be) he made some great headway. His passing game was poor though.

7. Mullen - Seemed to take a while to warm up but once he had the breeze and a bit less pressure on him his kicks found space and were effective. He needed to run more and his passing was a little off. Im a little worried about his new trend of kicking out on the full at least once every game.

8. Tafua - Ran strong and hit hard in defence. Seemed he didnt get as many minutess usual.

9. De Gois - Was like a terrier in defence. Did well with his dummy half running when our big boys gave him some go forward. This game is proof that Isaac needs to start and play the majority if not all of the 80min.

10. Houston - Was solid in defence, ran strong but seemed to not be on for long enough. Looked best running wide .

11. Simpson - Had his typical solid game but looked a little slow when running outwide. A shift to the middle seems the right move.

12. Taia - Ran his guts out and seemed to be in 70% of plays. Struggled a little when defending at centre but was amongst our best.

13. Hilder - Fantastic defence, covered absolutly everything. His only fault is that he seems to get smashed alot in defence.

14. Mika - Elusive and strong running, seemed to do a lot of work when on the paddock, put on some great shots in defence.

15. Karawana - Solid but really didnt see much of him.

16. Fao'oso - Ran hard, dropped some ball, should have scored and deserved to.

17. Wicks - Was good when involved. Made some great runs and showed good footwork. Had a good defencive game but made a couple of arm grabs.

.

I thought the same about his studs first half and expected him to change them for the 2nd. He still slipped way too much in the 2nd half.
If he can't run in longer studs he needs to spend the next week running through a swamp with them on.

The best last night. Felt sorry for the defense worked their bloody butts off. otherwise I would of hate to see what the score could of been.

Rogers has some serious decision making problems.!
The Bye will be welcomed.
Most frustrating game I have ever watched.

The game was made even more frustrating by whoever was keeping the tackle count for the Ch9 overlay.... horrific effort.

Our kicking game was woeful both Rogers and Mullen were very very ordinary. Mullens kicking game is way over rated, this game more than any other this year showed why Mullen should be at 6, who plays 7 I'm not sure, but it aint Mullen.

Has there been any hints about us looking for a halfback? Or is Smith content with this Mullen/Dureua/Rogers threesome?

Because if he is I'd assume that he would atleast stick to a permanent pairing rather than chopping and changing each week (unless injuries have really been the main reason for the changes). If not then it looks like he doesn't seem content with any halves pairing so it would make sense for us to look elsewhere for other options right???

Rogers is sh*t....................that is all

As a huge Rogers supporter in the past I am disgusted over that performance, unfortunately it seems were stuck with him if Mullen is injured.....

Bring in Vuna, Maddog, Patterson and Tolar post haste.

With this 4 back in I have no doubt we'll be back in form quicker then look at ya.

You know what could be an issue? If Mullo has damaged his shoulder and can't play against Souths...

That'd leave us with halves of 6. Rogers 7. ????

Oh dear.

Why even think like that Jobdog :(

I guess Stig or Ndaira would be next in line, even Gidley :(

Rogers has led Souths to the Top 8 playing outside that NZ ' halfback ' Smith, so I daresay he can handle playing with just about anyone at halfback if he was able to deal with playing 6 with Smith in 7.
