I like the team! Davico and thaiday will be in there soon when they get some confidence and match fitness in premier league. I am very worried with gidley at fullback. When he's been tested with high kicks in the past, he has very often been found wanting. Hopefully he's turned the corner.

I was really excited about coming home and seeing the team sheet. It's much better then the old copy and paste days....

This will be an intresting fact with Smith. In the past he has always liked using specialist fullbacks who are safe under the high ball. At Parra he had plenty to choose from.

Here he has two very good talents in Kidley and Thiaday, but neither fit his "specialist fullbacks who are safe under the high ball" mold. Hinton and Wooden are the two junior prospects, but it would appear both are in for seasons of PL and JF respectively.

Now that Jenkinson is fullback in JF, I would like to see Wooden move to PL. Jenkinson is probably spoken about as our future 1st grade fullback anyway.

Yet sometimes went with Luke Burt, who is no better under the high ball than Thaiday or Gidley. And much worse than either of them defensively. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about Smithy's view of the fullback role. Obviously he'd prefer them to be safe. Which coach wouldn't? I think the main thing that happened in recent years was that he spotted how good McKinnon is -- underrated player imho -- plucked him out of Souths reserve grade and turned him into an excellent first grade footballer, safe as houses but terrific support player in attack as well.
