Exactly. And a 300K pay cut is probably a bit generous for Aku. 350K is nearer the mark. The hunger would be back. Literally. He'd be starving on that coin.

Do you think he'll be taking less coin in those leagues?
He wouldn't be making $500k per season in Super League but he would get more than any NRL teams would offer him at this stage. Also being in Super League would probably help prolong his career. I don't follow foreign Rugby so I'm not sure what he would get over there, he's been linked to Japanese rugby a few times though.

He would get good money in Japan for sure.

Is Sione going to get a line break this year? Will he get more than Mataora?

He'll probably end up playing 7s for Fiji - seems like the in thing to do these days

500K.

Unless he takes a 300K pay cut, he's gone. Then Brown has to teach him how to tackle. Never going to happen.

He's done nothing to give Brown any reason to keep him.

Yep, bloody Aku not being able to defend against those 3 on 1's.

Obviously not the player he once was but still the best winger at the club and having more of a go than any of the other senior players this year (bar Jez).

His defense has been pretty good tbh. Timed his tackles much better, knocked down plenty of passes while doing so. Been solid under the high ball, strong carries. Just a shame he cant buy quality ball out there.

Still, he's on too much and we're not getting enough in return. That might be a problem with the side itself and not him directly though.

f**king lol. Aku should be thanking his lucky stars that 3 on 1 presents itself. It is saving him from having to make any decisions in defence and attempt to actually tackle someone.

He doesn't even have the pressure of having to take the high ball any more. Teams just run around us. No need to kick to him atm.

He's obviously always going to be the whipping boy around here.

He's been very solid this season. In fact if the blokes playing inside of him were trying to make their tackles as hard as he is maybe those 3 on 1's wouldn't be materialising so regularly.

He has been better, for sure, but Spot On is right to point out that when there is a chance of stopping the play, Aku is still taking bad options. He got his hand to the ball a couple of times yesterday but he hasnt managed to do that in his previous games this year, its mostly been a rush up and watch as the ball carrier passes him by

That being said id still keep him if he was on much less coin. His contract is more of an issue than his ability

Can anyone remember the last time aku actually made a line break? And I'm not talking the rare occasion he's actually found himself on the outside of his man going down the sideline - I mean where he's run full speed into the defensive line and come crashing through the other side. He used to do it on a regular basis. Now I really can't remember the last time it happened

I can't...but I put some of that down to the weight he has stripped this year. While it has ben good for his overall fitness/involvement in the game, and he still hits the line hard, his ruck returns have suffered by the KGs he has stripped from his frame this year.
