Faraimo does a neat job of cleaning up a grubber kick on his goal line. Leaves it until the last possible second and then steals 20m on the return.

Simple set for Wenty after that though. Ruck it up and then kick it deep.

Nothing too crazy in this half so far but as I type that the Dogs come up with an error.

Alright result. We can't crack the line or get the repeat set but we do trpa the Dogs on their 1m line.

Oh hang on, what has happened here? Wenty go very close to driving the Dogs into touch from their dummy half run but stop at the last second. This happened on the far side of the field so I didn't get a good look at it but it looks like the Dogs offloaded it in desperation and Beau Henry has intercepted it and scored a bizarrely easy try!

Cody Nelson slots the two points from out wide (apologies for before, Nelson kicked the last conversion as well.)

Wenty lead 12-0

Good set after points as Wenty drive the ball deep into the Dog's half and make the kick chase tackle 12m out from the home team's goal line.

The home crowd bays for blood as Faraimo is taken out in the air at the completion of the Canterbury set but it was just a lazy effort from the chaser. Fair call! :p

Big run from Toutai out of dummy half but he veers dangerously close to the sideline and indeed has to throw the ball back to Gorman in support.

And wow, just wow. I kid you not Seffa has just passed the ball to a Cantebury player who had slipped over on the ground. Seffa's pass picked him out perfectly on the ground. Incredible.

The Dogs get some impetus from the turnvoer and race down field after throwing a nice cut out pass down our left edge. Their winger chips over Faraimo and Quinlan has to play at the ball and it taken in goals.

Luck shines on us though as the Dogs produce an early error!

Penalty to us now as Nelson is taken now. Ref has called time off as he has a chat to the Dogs.

Alvaro first run now. Nelson up next but he has lost control of the pill in the play the ball.

Hilarious scenes here as the Dogs are now done for a penalty in possession! Tried to play the ball without standing up I think was the call.

Wenty quickly point to the sticks, looking for that 12pt lead.

And would you believe it? From just to the right of the sticks he has hit the upright and the ball has come back into play. The Dogs get the pill but then lose it two tackles later.

LMAO!

My commentary is falling apart as the game does the same. My bad fellas.

Wenty finally capitalise on the sort-of bulk of possession. We come down our left first as Matterson runs to the left and then turns the ball back inside to Goodall who is tackled. We then go back to our right as Lasalo turns and passes to Henry who then throws a long cut out to Fleming who dives over in the corner!

Conversion is unsuccessful.

Alvaro and Lasalo on the war path this set. Wenty get a fair chunk into the Dog's half on the last but Matterson ran the ball down the left on the penultimate tackle so Gorman has to kick and it is a poor one - getting cleaned up in the defensive line.

The Dogs complete their return set with Quinlan fielding an easy kick and using Faraimo for the return. Good ruck work from Goodall and Toutai in this set before Henry puts in a bizarre kick that almost works from 20m out. He absolutely hammers this grubber kick shallow into the ground. The ball is directed down our right edge and I am not sure if he was looking for touch 10m out or trying to force an error but he nearly gets a repeat set as it barely rolls dead.

That was soft. Faraimo was beaten 1-on-1 down his edge with only a metre or so to defend. Planted the feet way too earlier and the winger for the Dogs just breezed past him from a standing start.

Conversion is missed.

And the home team has wind in their sails now. As you so often see after one score, suddenly passes stick and players run with more effort.

They find space down our left between Goodall and Faraimo, looked like they had the over lap there. Goodall jammed while Faraimo held off and the centre poured through the gap with his winger in support. They have the 2-on-1 vs Quinlan but he does damn well to knock the ball down.

Incredibly the Dogs make an unforced error from the scrum win!

What a crazy game.

A few changes for Wenty with Luke Kelly and Kaysa Pritchard dropping out and Daniel Alvaro and Beau Henry I believe taking their places for the Magpies.
Good news that Kelly might be with the squad for the Melbourne game. Pritchard... meh. Hopefully he's copped an internal suspension for his role in the Edwards incident - he seemed at least an equally guilty party.

Alvaro probably needs more than a 6 minute or 1 minute stint to keep his match fitness, so understandable to see him there. And so long as Sef Paulo is still wearing a black jersey, I'm happy.

Good set in reply from Wenty. Worked the ball down their right with basic plays (and even a strong run from Seffa!) before Henry rolls the ball in behind to trap the Dogs a few metres off their line.

And here is the Sandow play from the Dogs. Third tackle chip and chase from 30m out and 7min on the clock.

Wenty recover the pill in good position but Henry's grubber is too deep again on this occasion. Wait on, we are coming back for a penalty as Henry was hammered late there.

Wenty ill go for a tap restart. Tui has a big charge to the posts. Frank Pakutoa goes in next before Henry looks for an optimistic cut out to Butler-Fleming to repeat the efforts of the last try. It was too early in the count though and we hadn't built the requisite pressure in the middle so Fleming is rounded up into touch.

Poor option there.

5min to go.

Hostilities now. Handbags at 10 paces as Gould would love to bellow out.

The Dogs throw a bad ball out the back down their right edge. Goodall has absolutely belted the intended recipient as the pass arrived (but the ball went in behind) and Faraimo cleaned it up. The Dogs race in from everywhere to create the fracas and we have a long time off as the ref talks to everyone.

The penalty will go to the Dogs. Interesting call, looks like it was for tackling without the ball.

But true to the spirit of this game the Dogs have come up with a first tackle error from the penalty restart.

Faraimo and Pakutoa head into the fray with the Dogs looking for a big shot.

Seffa comes down our left but holds onto the pill when the Dogs shoot up. Henry wants a crack at the field goal from 40m out. Has the distance but slices it to the right and it runs dead.

20m restart now and continuing with their run of innovative plays, they invoke the optional part of the 20m restart and take a drop kick that finds touch near half way. Very well executed.

Of course the extra possession doesn't mean much as the Dogs make another error - this time in the midst of a decent back line movement.

1min to go.
