Matto left the Tigers because madge was training him too hard. And he didn't like playing through injuries.
And its not like Matto has pulled out of a game in the last minute before. It happens 2 or 3 times a season
Ryles saw this first hand last week for the first time the stunt Matto pulls.
If matto is not quite 100% he won't play history has shown that.
I applaud Ryles for the stance this week it may cost us a win in FG but it's setting a standard and foundation moving forward.
Very valid points.
But if you were Matterson - given his injury history - would you risk playing if you weren't at 100%?
It's one thing to push through if you have a small niggle - but a lot of what Matterson is reporting as reasons why he's not playing are mechanical issues (back issues), or concussion-related (he withdrew before a game last year because he was light-headed during the warm-up).
I understand, and respect, that he puts Eels fans offside.
I dare say that he might need to seriously consider retiring - I think he is genuinely suffering from post-concussion syndrome after that act of foul play by Kaufusi, and it has probably contributed to Matterson feeling a little more gun-shy than usual.
