Zane Musgrove has just run into the field for NSW Cup. Interesting to see how the NRL lines up as a result.

Soft try to the Roosters after just 4 mins. 0-6. 0-12 after 6 mins!

Just following the pattern of the Flegg game, 16-42. Roosters took their chances and Dragons made sure they had plenty with lots of penalties and dropped ball. Dragons themselves showed a bit in attack poor handling let them down regularly

Complete transformation by the Dragons since the opening 10 mins. Playing like a good team! Leading 22-12 at half time. Worth the trip to Wentworth Park just to see a piece of absolute brilliance from Jayden Sullivan to set up a try just before half time. Reckon he might make the NRL side one day! What a talent. Some great bombs from him too, with Lobb making a great catch to score of one of them. Meanwhile Walker has had very little impact.

A good win but let’s not get carried away it was only the Chooks who are a bottom 4 team at this time.
OT, I travelled up from Wollongong today in the hope of seeing a Dragons' victory, at a time when the NRL team is in the doldrums. After the disappointing JF performance and 0-12 down after 6 mins I'll take a 30-18 victory in NSW Cup especially because the team played well and at times played with some real speed

As you'd know there's been lots of criticism of recruitment or lack of it for the NRL team. But today it was at least easy to see why the 2 Finaus were picked up as well as Tamale. And there is good reason to look forward to a 2nd Couchman playing in the NRL and a 2nd Feagai. Both played strongly today.
Also good to see Musgrove again showing he'll work hard when dropped to the Cup team. And you can see why Lui-Toso was given a go - he runs so hard and straight, admittedly in another shortish stint. Meanwhile the way Burns played he deserves to be close to a recall to the NRL.

The pattern of the past 2 seasons was repeated today. If Sullivan plays NSW Cup there's every chance of a strong performance. Without him no chance. But he had help today from Herring and Stewart who was like a jack in the box, seeming to appear out of nowhere wherever he was needed. Possum would have loved his performance. Also Lobb
impressed with 3 tries, great catch of a bomb for one and beating several defenders in the corner for another.

At least let me be happy for moment or two!

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great result especially when just a week or 2 ago the sad sack brigade were calling for Goodwin’s head and as usual bagging the club for giving him a job.

My concern is that many think KOE cup form instantly translates to the NRL and therefore instantly demands elevation.

In amongst that they sometimes ignore the fact of how poor the opposition in KOE cup might have been.

It's a huge win for NSW Cup, its the first time they put a team away all year (and only the 2nd win of the season) and when you factor Sam Walker running the roosters around and goalkicking (3/3). It does feel like 2022 though, i.e. good form is only off the back of Sullivan being there, so I don't know what they do once Sullivan steps back up to 1st grade.

The other guy that I get excited about is Herring, he doesn't have the flashy footwork of Amone, but I am hopeful he is our long term 6.. he runs a bit like soward, really quick off the mark & through a hole, and he has a big boot.. he is listed as a 7, so maybe he can keep growing into that role, he is 22yrs old.. but only had 12 games in NSW Cup, so he is totally at the beginning of his journey.

The other key thing is those forwards that dropped back today, Musgrove and Lui Toso got added to the list at the last minute.. I think if we get a few injuries to the 1st grade forwards, itll be difficult to replace these guys, we had to buy them all in basically (bar couchman). But if you give Sullivan some hard running forwards, we are in the game.

Fifita I think is recovering from injury, so maybe some leeway there, but we definitely need him to be one of the best each week.. and improve his minutes.

Also be curious to know what happened to Turner, I dont know where we are supposed to play him.. but im curious if he is injured or dropped.

Oh and lastly the goalkicking, man I wish we would buy a winger who can kick, this is really a scary situation, both Lobb & Sullivan kick around 70%, which is just average.. but I suspect Sullivan has the job because he is the next up to replace Lomax if needed.. its making winning very difficult in both grades.
