The puzzle goes further than Keating, Humble, Mortimer and Robson.

6, 7 and 14 are the big questions. Anthony Mitchell is in the mix as well.

5 players into three positions.

And it`s even remotely possible that Tahu could play some five-eight this year, too. With so many players and so many potential styles we could play, I`m looking at Daniel Anderson with more than a little interest this year. It will be intriguing to see what he comes up with and how he and the team adapt to whatever changes in playing style have to be made throughout the year; with injuries, poor form or rep duties, for instance.

With the talk about KK at 14, we will definitely miss our 14 from last year.

Kevvy quickened things up when he came on and had a great combo with MK. MK did the hard stuff which allowed Kevvy to liven things up. A bit Drew like.

We will miss this this year unless KK can adopt this role.

I don't think it would work if Robbo played 14.

I don't see why we would play Robbo at 14. He would not provide any impact. He should start and play the whole game at 7. There's no point in putting KK at 7 during a game unless DA really really believes that KK will own the 7. But wouldn't that be a slap in the face to Robbo? Bit like getting hooked?

The only way I really see KK proving himself at 6 or 7 is if there is an injury or low and behold Robson becomes the SOO halfback.

I agree; I don`t think Robbo would make a good hooker.

Im not saying it is the end of Robbo. But if KK finds his form, and resigns, and mortimer overcomes second year syndrome, and also resigns, do you think the Eels are going to hang onto Robbo?????

If the above happens, will Robbo be content to play second fiddle???? Maybe he has a get out clause.

Dont forget, there is a player by the name of Tom Humble. By all reports, he could POSSIBLY cement 1 of the halves positions.

If Morts, Humble and KK are ahead of Robbo, for a spot in the halves, then I cant see Robbo staying beyond next year.

BTW, I dont think DA is contemplating Robbo @ 14. Although his defence is great, he is slow and wont have the impact of a Kingston or P J Marsh.

What if Kris Keating doesn`t find his form/confidence, Mortimer doesn`t overcome second year syndrome, and Robson improves his overall game? What then?
All this talk is ridiculous; Robson is the incumbent grand final half-back, and the spot is his to lose. End of story.

Keating is fast and fleet footed. A perfect 14 to inject at tired forwards. If eels do not win many games at the start, DA will put KK at 7. I don't know about Anthony Mitchells speed, but Tom Humble could get a look at a bench X factor like Mateo was last year. Your right. The 7 is robsons too lose. I think KK is better, but if robson can get the job done, he has enough skill to win games.

here's another thing to ponder, with 1 too many classy outside backs and our choice of talented halves not to mention the difficult choice of which 2 of the 4 frontrowers will start..will make these 3 trial matches the most important in the clubs history..

the last time I remember a pre season with such anticipation from fans and the media was the start of 96 when our 10 recruits were on show for the first time..

For the eels vs dragons trial, Mortimer is at 6 and KK at 7... Robson in the second row and humble as fullback...

Krisnan Inu is the only one out of the centres/wingers in the team. Interesting...

what if kk continues where he left off, mortimer lifts with experience, and robson gets found out for the limited skills he possesses?

if ifs and buts were sugar and nuts......

Poor Jeff Robson. He takes us to a Grand Final and some people still want him out within 3 weeks!! Where's the loyalty and support??

He is on a hiding to nothing here, because let's get one thing straight: It is extremely unlikely that we will start off where we left off last year!! It is the start of a new season, they will be rusty, we have new players, and the end of last year was one of those once-in-a-lifetime runs. So to give Robson 3 weeks is harsh.

KK this, Anthony Mitchell that, I'm sick of hearing about it. Robson has the job, and led the team to the GRAND FINAL! Keating has played a few games in a losing team in first grade. Anthony Mitchell is an unproven kid. These are the facts.

So let's give Robson a chance instead of death-riding him like we have done other players.

That sums things up beautifully! (And Mitchell might be the new Albert Kelly for all we know.)

Bloody Robson!!!!! Talk about looking for a scapegoat BEFORE a ball has been kicked.
All he can do is his best. That's what is asked of him. If it is not good enough, then so be it.
Lucky he only has to please the coach - and not the forum. Daniel has a big wrap on him. That's good enough for me...

No one wants Robson punted, BUT lets be frank. We do have better options at half back then him.

Geez you latest people are stupid.

It's called reverse psychology.

We've been saying all this next sterlo crap to nearly every halfback that we have produced.

Tim Smith, Michael Witt, Steve Witt, Jason Bell.

Do u want us to deathride Robbo too with the next sterlo crap?

No, we don't.

We have players who are potentially better options than Robson. But potential doesn't mean squat on the scoreboard, and you can never tell how long it will take to turn potential into performance.

Robson has proven to have a style that suits what this team needs, and his performances, not his potential, are the reason he is the 7.

^^^ another idiot that's forgotten the form of kk before he broke his jaw

for a start, calling someone an idiot for having an opinion is very harsh, secondly, wasn't it Robson who was playing 7 while KK was 6 and if you're that convinced that Robo will offer nothing to this first grade team this year, than I would like to nominate you, to represent league unlimited and tell DA himself that we don't need Robo from day one and you insist that we get rid of him...

funny and true story, at the end of last years coach's forum at the league club, some hero took it upon himself to tell DA that INU wasn't being used properly so without a right of reply, he demanded the coach put him at five eight...

suffice to say DA put the bloke in his place very quickly...and he stfu!!
