just because a spare wheel gets you by, doesn't mean you shouldn't replace it.

sometimes a spare wheel performs better and lasts longer than the others

I've been accused of fence sitting with predictions and considering this bloke proved me wrong last year, I'm not prepared to write him off yet I think he could be a solution to our missing Kinga puzzle.

MK has had 2 full years-I think he improved a lot in the last half of last year...
He still seems to me as if he is a little scared to try things. But he has the ability. He is quick out of dummy hald and has an under rated kicking game-Personaly i think he is the best kicker in our team....
I can see him having a big year to be honest...

I think he needs to follow the coach's orders first and then when he's got that down pat, talk to the coach and say, I would like to do this and that and let DA decide.

I recall mention of Hayne suggesting things like that.

But then when you have a team with Hayne, Grothe, Tahu, Mateo, Hindy, Fui, Mortz you sometimes might think it better not to back yourself.

Kingston backed himself but sometimes he got selfish and took the wrong decision.

you mean other spare tyres?

kris keating ain't a spare, he's formula one quality, bridgestones. has had pedigree at all age groups and the form on the board (which everyone has seemed to have forgotten about)

Also, I've got to add that you don't sign a bloke like Robo for 2 years if the head coach feels that he's not going to contribute to the first 17 long term.

The management at the eels aren't dumb anymore. They would of known that Robsons options were very, very limited.

There would be a thousand 'get out' clauses by the eels, in the contract.

If KK can establish himself this year with Morts in the halves, and they both resign, then I think that would be the end of Robbo.

Basicalyy, I believe Robbo is just insurance.

Indeed, like he was last year.
It proved to be a wonderful Insurance policy.

actually, I think it worked the other way, I think DA would of prefered Kinga but simply couldn't afford him so they were limited ot Robo who would of been a handy pick up for any club and I honestly believe that DA sees him as a 14 and a perfect replacement for Kinga.

let's get one thing straight, I don't see Robo as a long term half back but I do see him as a 14..

It's also slightly premature to be saying it could be the end of Robo is he's contracted till the end of 2012.

Im not saying it is the end of Robbo. But if KK finds his form, and resigns, and mortimer overcomes second year syndrome, and also resigns, do you think the Eels are going to hang onto Robbo?????

If the above happens, will Robbo be content to play second fiddle???? Maybe he has a get out clause.

Dont forget, there is a player by the name of Tom Humble. By all reports, he could POSSIBLY cement 1 of the halves positions.

If Morts, Humble and KK are ahead of Robbo, for a spot in the halves, then I cant see Robbo staying beyond next year.

BTW, I dont think DA is contemplating Robbo @ 14. Although his defence is great, he is slow and wont have the impact of a Kingston or P J Marsh.

tbh, I don't know what the terms of his second year deal is however if it's your standard contract then the club will give him permission to negotiate with other clubs, you can't just decide to flick him...I also believe that regardless of what happens I can't see Robo wanting out if he spends a long stintat wenty considering that he's at the back end of his career and he's never had a deal that lasted longer than a year...

In regards to Robo at 14, I'm pretty sure that in a radio interview DA touted him, KK and Mitchel as a possible replacement for Kinga..

btw, Tom who???...last time he's name was mentioned on here a certain poster got his knickers in a knot

If we go crap, I think we will see KK in the 7.

If we go ok, I really can't see that happening.

It was the same with Lowrie and Mateo last year.

From report, DA didn't want to tinker with a team that was going good.

Just maybe if he (Robson) gets enough games under his belt he could qualify for ESL as he has played enough 1st grade.... just a thought.

How could we afford Robson but not Kingston when Kingston was willing to play for the minimum wage?

You've gone missing for a long long time.

There was a big thread on this. Something about if he signs with Parra or any club, the 2009 match payments he received counts to the 2010 cap which would push us over.

So for his $55K contract would actually count as $110K off our cap this year.

It's not we can't afford him, it's because he will push us over the cap.

I thought Robson was on the same deal last year. Minimum with match payments?
Just a thought but if he was on the same deal this contract, wouldn't it be persuasive to not play Robson therefore in his 2nd year his contract wouldn't take up as much of the cap?

I guess it is about balancing the books.

The new administration was trying to fix other people's books. I would guess they have better control of it now
