Just an observation... did any of you feel that Ronaldo seemed completely uninterested today. Not much movement off the ball, not making his usual runs, not chasing down balls like usual, and generally just not trying to get that involved.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but he played like someone who either:

- wasn't fit
- didn't care (perhaps because he is on the way out like many people have speculated in recent times)

Maybe I'm looking into it too much but it was just an observation from someone who watches a lot of his matches for both club and country.

He was fit. He just didn't care

Loads of natural ability, but isn't prepared to do the work

Hmmm...

Ronaldo is one of the most dedicated footballers you'll ever see. He's the perfect example of: supreme talent x extreme work ethic = all-time great.

You don't score 200 goals in 200 games for a club if you're not prepared to do the work.

Belgium are in the midst of an absolutely golden generation.

I know it's a long way away but I think they could be a real dark horse for Euro 2016
Courtois
Alderweireld
Kompany
Vermaelen
Vertongan
Feillaini
Witsel
Dembele
Hazard
Lukaku
Benteke

Pretty sexy line up

That's a load of crap. I've read articles describing him as the best/hardest trainer you will ever see. First to arrive at training, last to leave and all that jazz. Even when the team is losing he is constantly energetic and making runs.

I've watched enough of his matches over the years starting from his Sporting CP days to know whether he is off or not.

He wasn't marked out of the game or kept quiet. I've seen numerous games for Portugal where this was the case but that wasn't it today.

He was definately off.

Madrid and Barca are both teams full of petulant little bitches that sums up the league perfectly. Every time something doesn't go their way they start kicking and shoving and getting in the officials faces intimidating then.

Good to see Ronaldo come up short in a big match for the umpteenth time and Mourinho bundled out of spain trophyless in his last season.

Still infinitely better than Bayernsliga tbh.

You don't get to where he is without being the consummate professional.

The cynic in me says he's trying to engineer a move back to England, which if is the case I guess would slightly detract from his thorough professionalism up until now.

La Liga is better than the Fußball-Bayernliga, the amateur league in Bavaria that is in the 5th tier of German football  how observant are you. What's your next one, the sky is blue? You're an everyday Galileo

European Cups won by Manchester Cityhad: 0
European Cup group stages Manchester Cityhad have progressed beyond: 0  Even in 1968 they were European failures, nothing has changed

Yeah, the history of the European Cup is relevant to 2013 though.

Bayern and Dortmund played all 4 Spanish teams and lost once, a far better indication that Madrid winning 5 in a row in the 1950's

Keep on failing.

La Liga's so great that Manuel Pellegrini, who divided the big 2 whilst managing Villarreal and achieved Real Madrid's highest ever point total isn't good enough to manage City.

Only two teams in Spain are mentioned, and two in Germany.

That is why both leagues are about equal this year and neither are the best in the world.

Next year if Munich don't win the BL by spring then Pep should be fired.
In Spain, Real will Challenge Barca again. The other teams are about to lose there managers/best players though.

Monaco spending may make the French league better than the German one soon.

So what is the best league then? England? LOL. England is a 2 team race at the moment as well. Neither Arsenal or Liverpool have been relevant for 5 years now. Despite winning the CL Chelsea have looked shit in the league for a couple of years now and City won last year thanks to Utd not being as good as in other years and yet Utd were 60 seconds away from winning it.

Then there is the fact that THREE La Liga sides (not just Barca & Real) made it further than every English team in the UCL. If Spain is a 2 team league then England is a 0 team league, just full of mediocre teams.

All 11 players named in the world team of the year play in spain.

English league is shit and has no relevance in best league talks. Bundesliga seems to be taking over at the moment but England still continues to be the shit stain on La Ligas underwear.

I read "So what is the best league then? England" then just assumed the rest is some rubbish where you get your knickers in a twist.

So i thought i'd best quit while you were ahead. ;-)

On review, yup, should of stopped reading.
Despite winning the champs league Chelsea are rubbish but some Spanish teams doing ok (not actually winning it though) in the same comp means they are the best league.?
Bundesliga "Seems" to be taking over?
The joke that was the team of the year?

As I thought, some rubbish.

Of to the sub forum to read about the relevant teams who people talk about like Shalke, Zaragoza etc...

Poor Wireman - always in denial.

He doesn't accept the unbiased UEFA Coefficient which shows that the PL is #2.
He doesn't accept that no PL teams in the CL quarters is an indication of failure.
He doesn't accept that the PL Champion was worse than the BL, La Liga, and Eredivisie champions.
He doesn't accept that the same 4 teams making the CL is a sign of predictability.
