all 16 teams are a chance to make the top 8 in 2012

its just you'd be shocked if these 4 did
Sharks Titans Roosters Parramatta

& mildly surprised if these 4 did
Raiders , Panthers , Souths , Broncos

Why would it be a shock if Parramatta make the top eight? They have a great roster now.

Most teams outside the 8 have cause for optimism.
Easts - hit a good run of form post origin;
Canterbury - hit a good run of form post Kevin Moore;
Panthers - Phil Gould is back;
50uff$ - Maguire is in charge now;
cronulla - Carney et al;
Canberra - Campese and Dugan possibly fit.

As to the Titans and Parra I have no idea. I can't see anything positive there.
As to the top 8 I expect the Tigers and Broncos to slide badly.
Dragons, Warriors, Melbourne and Manly to slide less badly.
North Qld to be slightly better.
Newcastle to improve markedly.

I'll stick my neck out and say that the Broncos, Tigers and Warriors won't make the 8 and they'll be replaced by Easts, canterbury and 50uff$.

Going by the trend of the last few years there will be approx 4 teams from this years finals series that won’t be there next year. I think those teams will be Warriors, Brisbane, Cowboys, Dragons. They will be replaced by Bulldogs, Roosters, Sharks, Raiders.

The Titans have made some fair signings, plus they can't be as bad as they were this year.

Personally, I'm looking forward to potentially another year of vitriol directed towards Scott Prince and Jamal Idris. Prince is a class player, but one poor season and all of a sudden he's shithouse? Idris was pretty bad but nowhere near as useless as some make him out to be, if he wasn't mentioned in the media so much the hate would be nowhere near as bad.

None of those sides will replace the Dragons. Not that they won't have far better seasons in 2012, but the Saints will make the 8 at the very least

Interesting how few people rate the Dragons.

Yep Bennett has gone and he will be a loss.
But he did his job and has left the club in great shape.
He changed the culture and turned a swag of guys into Origin/International players.
The new coach is really good and moulded by Bennett.

As to player losses it's weird.
Everyone outside the Club bagged the crap out of Gaz last year.
Now all of a sudden he is a "massive" loss.
Actually he's not.
Chase Stanley and Daniel Vidot are great replacements.

As for Boyd, another excellent player who under-performed last year.
Kyle Stanley will replace him and do a great job.
The Dragons have also signed Denan Kemp.

In the forwards we have they have lost Green - big deal.
And bought 4 players to replace him.

The Dragons may not win the comp.
But the chance they will miss the 8 is extremely low.

I think people undervalue the loss of Wayne. Do you remember the season after for Broncos?

Dragons lost the master, i think soward will fall apart.

The forwards already lost the edge with Jez and Cositgan now no Wayne to fire them up, the hardman Scott won't cut it. I think that yellow soft belly will be exposed again.

Boyd is a MASSIVE loss, i agree Stanley looks promising but Boyd is a massive loss.

Gaz was unreal through the regular seasons the past couple and alright in finals not great. I think he is still a loss. Vidot is garbage reason the raiders didn't put him back in first grade. Moltzen threw a spanner in the works and Stanley is extremely injury proned.

I just don't see the 8 for them this year.

You mean the year they made the Grand Final Qualifier and lost to the cheating Storm?

In no particular order:

Cowboys
Warriors
Cronulla
Souths
Dragons
Knights
Storm
Roosters

Damn -- Can't believe I forgot Manly. It's still a guess. I want to say Cronulla, but if I had to put money on it, I'd probably go this.

Top 8
Cowboys
Manly
Warriors
Souths
Dragons
Knights
Storm
Roosters
