Last night proved Pearce is not up to Origin

Pearce has been a negative factor in the past few years. It's not just a matter of him being ineffective, his performances have benefitted Queensland more than NSW

This x 10000000

Hodkinson and Reynolds weren't outstanding, but they were solid, didn't have any brain explosions and barring injury and suspension, deserve to be there in game 2. Hodkinson isn't Andrew Johns, but he played better in his first game than Pearce has had in 12 attempts. Not to mention, his first game being at the cauldron at Suncorp, he would've been under extreme pressure but handled it well.

Pearce has had multiple attempts at winning the series, and hasn't produced the results. He stifles the team attack. Game 3 last year was the final straw, he capitulated under pressure.

Without Hayne NSW lose for sure and QLD were up against it when Cronk broke his arm in any case. The NSW halves were very ordinary as they have limited ability and cannot in reality be selected for game 2 or beyond if NSW are to win the series.

It will be 1 all with the decider at Suncorp so best to make the changes required now for game 2 for NSW instead of doing this for game 3.

Last night showed that Hodgkinson and Reynolds are not upto SOO standard- maybe fair club NRL players but their lack of ability was very much exposed at this level.

The following changes are required for game 2 and beyond

Pearce and Maloney replaces Hodgkinson and Reynolds
Fifita replaces - Merrin
Bird replaces - Scott
You have absolutely no idea space cadet.

If people think last nights result had anything to do with the halves they have rocks in their head.

We won because Hayne was at fullback. That move and that move alone won us the game. He was able to be more involved in attack which allowed him to set up our first try and score the other, and also meant he was in the centre of the field so could take over the kicking duties in the 2nd half when Hodkinson and Reynolds were continually kicking straight down Slater's throat.

There has only been 1 occasion wehre Hayne has played at fullback that NSW hasn't won the game. Doesn't matter who is in the 6 and 7 when the great man is in the 1.

Kicking game wasvery, very average.... How many times did both halves kick directly to Slater ans Slater didn't have to move. Hayne had to take a few kicks in the 2nd half to get any distance and direction.

Slater has to move plenty to get to the ball on the full both before and after the ball is kicked, you just don't get to see it. To say it is a poor kicking game woefully underestimates the work done by Slater to be in position to take kicks on the full

And again proof is in the result. We finally get Pearce out of the team and we win the series

We don't have star halves, but thankfully we now also don't have one that will specifically help the opposition

We've won the series but so far both origin games suggest Hodkinson and Reynolds aren't that much better than any other pairing since 2005. It's no real slight on them in particular, but with the way Origin is played, defence is what determines the winner.

Hayne's brilliance won us game 1 as well as an immense defensive effort. Game 2 we defended quite well but we were a bit lucky thanks to a lack of execution on QLD's part and Cherry Evans going MIA. One of the main reasons for QLD's dominance over the years has Greg Inglis absolutely tearing our right edge a new one year after year. This time we've been able to nullify that threat.

Our kicking game was poor, only Farah kicked well finding grass. Reynolds offered very little in attack. Hodkinson had an okay game, his kicking game wasn't very good either, but he did seal the win. Don't get me wrong, Hodkinson and Reynolds should be the halves pairing from here on, but besides the winning try, if we lost that game everyone would be lambasting them for offering nothing, same old story.

One thing I am perplexed with is why Gallen and Bird somehow became the halves pairing during the last 20 minutes. I'll put it down to Daley's/Gallen's orders, because surely there's no way the halves shirked their responsibilities.

i understand your need to defend one of your own but to say they were no worse than pearce is a massive injustice

pearce was the biggest reason we lost the series last year

If you think that you have nfi.

Loosing Hayne from games 2 and 3 last year is what lost us the series. Just as had Hayne not played game 1 2014 we lose.

I love the Pearce hate, I really do as I couldn't give less of a f**k about origin. But to say he's the reason we lost proves posters here have nfi.

Chook.

Does the chick in the yellow dress have twitter or something? If she does I'm guessing she is getting lots if love from NSW fans and planet of hate from QLDers.

Yeah, he really stole the show game 3 2013 didn't he? What a player. Congrats on not caring about Origin BTW, we are very happy for you and Shitchell.

Who'd have thought that one of the most portentious moments for NSW would have been in a hospital maternity ward ...

"Mr. Pearce, congratulations it's a boy ..."

NSW need to thank the girl in the yellow dress with the sexy ass for getting Pearce dropped. Hodkinson scores the winning try and goal cos Pearce wasn't there.

Yep. He could never show the required composure. He's best left out of the team from here on.

What this origin series proved was how important Gallen and Hayne are to the side. Both blokes were missing from last year's decider
