Last Stand of Campbelltown Stadium

This has been done to death...

They are under announcing crowds at Cambo and LO so the writing is on the wall that they will move all the games to ANZ probably as early as next year...

Of course our esteemed cash strapped Management have locked the Tigers into a 10 year deal there where they get about a third as much per game as Souffs and the Bulldogs...

BTW, when they do put those games at ANZ we had better be running hot....6 or 7k will look at lot worse at ANZ than either Leichhardt or Campbelltown.

Exactly right.... ANZ only gets the big games at the moment.... We will see how many want to show up at the concrete canyon on a wet Friday night against the Cows or Storm if they are coming second last like last year...

I see the commonsense level hasn't risen in my absence.

If the management of Wests Tigers thinks the same way as some of the diehards in this forum, the club is f**ked. Sadly, I think they do...

Well in your absence EA this topic has been done to death , and as such we have heard all the pro's and cons and most im sure are happy to move on and try attend games as much as possible regardless of past mistakes or grudges.

By the way, Leichhardt isn't immune to the phenomenon. A 5k and a 7k last season for the NQ and the Storm attest to that.

I never said Leichhardt was immune.

Really doesn't matter how it looks - the difference is we won't be bleeding money with a 7k crowd at ANZ.

If the team is winning, people will turn up to ANZ. It's too big but cheaper tickets, better location, better access and we don't lose money playing there.

It really doesn't matter - playing full time at ANZ will mean we won't lose money regardless of the crowd.

I would also hazard a guess that most people would prefer to go to ANZ when it's pissing down rain on a Friday or Sat night than Leichhardt or CT.

I was going to mention that but it tends to get howled down...

If there was 6k at the Cowboys game, I'm a dutch astronaut.

I'm quite sure that nearly every reg in this forum is also a reg at games. It's not those people the club has to entice and that's the point.

The only problem with that is losing Macarthur, and if they drop Campbo they can kiss it goodbye. I reckon the Roosters will be playing a few games per year at Campbo if it happens.

Judging be recent crowds you could argue it is already lost. The massive effort the club is going to in promoting this game to the district shows they are willing to wage one final effort to get bums on seats. But will it work?

So transparent what he's doing.

He's setting the fans up for failure. By saying 'no excuses', if he doesn't get the crowd he wants, he has his excuse. When the outrage of moving away for C'town happens, he'll say 'well, I tried to help. $10 tickets.'

I know the frustration. It's obvious this is what Doust wants as well. He wouldn't dare say it as blatantly as Mayer, but everyone sees through this whole 'right game, right venue' bullshit. Even giving the away team (at their home ground) free tickets to spike attendance numbers.'

I was at both Cambo and LO when the very poor crowd figures were posted, and like others I think the figures given were under stated by at least a couple of thousand or more. Okay they were poor crowds, but you have to start thinking is something going on behind the scenes to try and change peoples perception on the merit of playing games at our two suburban venues

No way will the board allow Campbelltown to be ignored unless it means Leichhardt is as well, and all home games are moved to the SFS or Homebush.

Then we'd not really be the Wests Tigers anymore....

yeah, it would be weird to see the Tigers getting good crowds in decent stadiums....

If the people of Campbelltown aren't going to Campbelltown, how do you figure that they (and many many more) will go to at least a dozen games at the SFS?

Well, since people from Campbeltown arent going to game that at IN Campbeltown, im of the mind that, after 15 years, maybe they just arent the market to be thinking about.

There are, however, 4 million other people living in Sydney. Maybe its time the Tigers focused on some of them instead...

Because that will go down well with essentially the only section of the club providing the majority of the finances to run the club.....

Finally they are spending some time down here.
Also, I think there must be a decent number of tickets out there as Meyer has announced a 4 year extension for Campbelltown, or, is that a stay of execution?
