Something like this must exist, as you'd imagine it would for players too.

Yes but as I recall this has to be with the approval of the club who is their major employer. Remember certain clubs being in the media for not alowing their players to play in certain minor rep games when recovering from injury. As the major employer of X party the RL club has to have a say in other employment aspects X party seeks to do.

Anyway, yes, no-one here has any idea whats actually in the contract.

Pffft as if the club has gained any further sway just because he has locked in the Roos coaching job.

Hell, they probably have to pay him a $50k bonus now.

I think you're right in regards to players, but I'd hazard a guess it's different with coaches. It's not as though Sheens is at risk of doing a pectoral or ACL sitting in the coaches box and even if he was, it's hardly going to affect his performance.

Now a brain related injury, that may benefit whichever poor club is stupid enough to pick him up next...

Article in today's SMH (link below) about Kimmorley signing as assistant coach at the Raiders had this interesting snippet.
The Raiders had spoken to Tim Sheens about the possibility of linking with the club he led to three premierships, while juggling his Australian duties. However, Sheens's ongoing battle with Wests Tigers will prevent him from participating in any proposed role in Canberra.

So the stupid, pig headed bugger will 'cut off his nose in spite of his face'. Rather than resolve and move on, he will dig his heels in. OK then, WT increase the pressure and keep playing it hard. Put your final offer on the table and **@@@ him. He doesnt deserve any fond memories.

For godsakes just please go ...........................

Will the the final offer be two years pay?

Hope not, the final offer should be reasonable (maybe 15 months worth), if not see him in court and block all other work he can do inc the ARL coach job, until this is ruled on by the Court, saying WGT are in dispute with his continuing employment and he is not permitted by his current major employer WT, to work elsewhere until this is resolved.

He did the ARL role when he was the coach so it might be in his contact that he is permitted to do that. I would love to get away with 15 months. Lets hope.

Maybe, maybe not (re ARL bit) but in the circs I wouldnt be worried about accommodating the stubborn bugger beyond the barest minimum required.

Edit- I think 15 months is fair- 1 full year and then 3 months (1 x qtr) of the next. Giving him ample opportunity to find soemthing else and have fair recompense for forgone opportunity. (opportunity to mess with players heads and fans tempers........ )

I would imagine a deal has been brokered with a no dis closer clause in the deal.As he would need the Tigers blessing to jump on a aircraft and head o/s while being employed by the WestsTigers. Although you would have expected a press release from Humpty saying a non dis closed sum has been agreed on by both parties if this was the case

He's been sacked no?
Wouldnt this render his contractual ''duties'' null & void - or pointless?
....they cant sack him yet control him

That is a good question. When you get sacked you don't normally get to hang around
for two years and pick up your pay check.

Clearly they are still paying him, so they are able to control him to some extent.
For example stop him going to Canberra. Of course we should actually be encouraging
him to piss off as opposed to stopping him but he really does seem like a bloody minded
individual.

I wonder if the Tigers have the right to stop him from being national coach.

The way I see it Sheens has control over his destiny here.

By refusing to accept a pay out, he is officially still employed by the club, meaning he can't get work elsewhere.

If he accepts a pay out, he is free to work wherever he wants whenever he wants.

Sheens needs to be told in no uncertain terms, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I dont think he's refusing to accept payout....WTs are refusing to give him one...he wants a payout

Do you mean 'partial'?

I cant see how he's "having his cake and eating it too."
