Yep, we are not getting far at all. On that we are in agreement.
It was a misunderstanding. Nothing more to it.
I will though give you my opinion on the match bans. One month / 4 games at a minimum. In light of the warnings prior to this incident, the risk factor and damage to the game, i believe it to be appropriate. The game is bigger than 1 or 2 stars who feel its okay to dismiss government guidelines at such a delicate time for all.

If we are to rise above and not get bashed by media / public, then the game needs to sets higher standards.

We wont agree on this, and thats fine. However, expect the barrage of bad publicity to continue if these players dont wake up to themselves and that cant be good for the game or any Clayton's comp they want to re-instate as a result of poor management.
I think we need to keep it in perspective. The players have been given higher penalties than any other public person, or politician for that matter.. Is that not rising above the standard?

And do we honestly think that dumb acts only occur with NRL players? Are all AFL and RU players squeaky clean, law abiding citizens?

Apparently not, but they don't seem to get the same media coverage.

eg

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04...ie-hunter-charged-with-drink-driving/12156414
The second one was drinking driving as well.

I didn't even know they broke the law, I had to google it. Can't find anything about the AFL fining those players $50K or imposing match bans.

Well I really hope so mate , may the rest of the season (?) be incident free and may they thank their lucky stars that it wasn’t Judge Gazza handing out the punishment ! ‍:scales:
I will leave you with this Gazza the same media that props them up to make them out to be role models and megastars on megamoney, the same media that enjoys their own spoils, riches and benefits of all that to make the normal person like you or I jealous and envious and outraged is the same media happily to push them over the edge and the same media that turns around again and begs everyone to be PC in your reactions to maybe just go a bit easier on them exploiting their apologetic forced in most times pre written press conferences.
All that rant to say: it’s not the players fault they put up on a pedestal Especially young kids who know no better

Lachie Hunter banned for 4 games, dumped as vice captain and $20k fine ($15k suspended)

But most of that was related to the fact he was drink driving

All good mate.
I can see where you are coming from. Suppose Im just frustrated at how our players are always in the media for the wrong reasons.

Dont dispute it happens in other codes at all. Bottom line for me is that I dont care about the AFL, never watch it, and wouldn't blink if it disappeared tomorrow.
Cheers

IMO, he got off lightly.
Was it big news in Melbourne? Mitchell and Addo-Carr were wall-to-wall on the news bulletins.

What about the AFL house party dudes?

He made the front page & was up there for a few days..

The party boys weren’t that big news, I’m assuming based on the early days of lockdown plenty of folk were still doing it then..

That being said anything AFL related is just a grey fuzzy mess whenever I look at it.

It’s either selective glaucoma or my eyes protecting me from the sport.

Well Valandys got this covered.First day at training is devoted to Corona information and rules for the season. If any player breaks these rules i'd say they will be threatened with expulsion.Still wouldn't put it past some of the knuckleheads to ignore and get found out, hope it is half a dozen Rorters players !

Still think Cleary should get the highest fine/suspension for blatantly lying. Thought the kid was smarter than this but obviously not.

The whole of the league players, coaches, trainers, physios, admin people etc will have to be trained on the Coronavirus protocols/rules and thereafter they will be part of the new Big Brother series and closely watched.

Hang , draw and quarter the little beggar , there’s one thing that I abhor and that’s a lying , scheming half-back - more so a Penrith one .

I'm guessing they all would be doing it, AFL and Union players included.

But only League players get themselves photographed and filmed, or post it themselves on social media.
That'd be anecdotal at best.

Seems like they have to be caught by police or reported to police before it makes the news.

The NRL should come out and tell clubs that players posting on social media like instagram will face severe penalties.
The postings done by Mitchell, Cleary and the Josh could affect the start of the season, I assume that all the people in those videos need to be tested as soon as possible.
