I'm not actually a Parramatta Eels fan. I stumbled across this site many years ago by complete accident. I googled "backdoor forums" and front row forums came up in the search result. So to cut a long story short I decided to sign up, even though I had never heard of the eels.

Anyway I've had fun but maybe it is time for me to move on.

Thread of the year (do we have a competition for that?).

First, it has given us so many jokes this year. I still laugh when Poupou makes a post about a player and someone asks "yeah, but many LBAs does he have?". Not to mention the banter about LBAAs etc :lol:

Second, it gave some context to the "Jarryd Hayne's role in the team" discussion. (though what it illuminated is another debate).

Last, and most definitely not least, when those merkins in the NRL forum have tried to tell us Hayne has been playing badly this year, every Parra fan has had an instant comeback: "He's got x line break assists, only behind Thurston and Marshall, and x try assists (because this thread inspired us to check those stats too)! It's pretty hard to be making line breaks when the team relies on you to do all the creating too! It's not his fault he's being asked to be a fullback and five-eighth at the same time!"

well you could probably say the same thing about he cowboys and thurston - but they are coming 5th - so they're not sad

If Hayne can get a podium finish for LBA's this year, then I think the season for Parra can be marked down as a triumph.

Laughing at Poup's obsession with LBA's aside, I actually think LBA's say a lot about a players ability. As creators and playmakers, I think there are genuinely none better than those three men that top the list.

Also interesting to see that Sutton is more of a creator than Sandow, which I think works really well in our favour for next year. Sutton has had a diabolical year by anyone's standards, and he's still been in a position to create chances.

Sandow will take control of the game and again won't need to focus on putting men through holes because we can still look to Hayne to create the big plays when needed.

Poupou, how many of Hayne's LBA's were at fullback? Just wondering whether he's had a better strike rate at 5/8 or fullback?
