League players and the Comm/Olympic Games

Do you think it would be feasible for League players to be allowed to play in the Rugby at the Commonwealth and Olympic games.

No doubt many of them would be better at the this type of game(sevens is it?) than Rugby players themselves.

What gives Union players a right to represent their country over League players?

Shouldn't they just choose the best footballers available?

Or would they have to be registered or something

Can you imagine some League players against some of those Irish or Scots?

After a long NRL season, it's difficult enough to get players pull on a Kangaroos jersey.

Agree with the sentiments though, 'Rugby' should apply to both League and Union.

Rugby 7's is all about speed, there aren't many in league who are faster then Lachie Turner

League players would not make better rugby 7's players, end of story.

League players are slow coaches compared to some of these speedsters in rugby 7's,your kidding yourself if you don't think players like Inglis and Hayne would get owned, they would just run around them with pure ease.

Next please.

I know you're a chucklehead and the resident imbecile, but even for you that post is striking in its stupidity.

Lote - 67 Union Tests.
Wendell - 37 Union Tests.
Rogers - 45 Union Tests.
Tahu - 4 Tests.

Are you saying that Union picked 4 hopeless players for the national team 153 times?

I watched the Uganda match and now watching the Sri Lankan match. As they've pointed out - Rugby 7's is almost a seperate game from Union with specialist players. It's still quite tedious though.

There's no doubt the IRB/ARU would love to gets its paws on league players to increase its presence here - I suspect though they'd have to be registered in the unions - and no doubt they'd be pulled out of NRL matches to play for any meaningless half bit 7's comp around the world.

Does anyone really remember any winners from 2005 7's comp? 2006? 2007? 2008? 2009?

The only comp that will be worth remembering will be the Olympics.

On another note:

Bill Woods had some snide comments about 7's not being hindered by the things people hate about League/Union...

If Ten gets the NRL, pray to god this man is nowhere near it. They basically just sent their AFL commentary team on a free vacation.

Is the Shaun Foley in the Australian team the one who played reggies for Easts around 2006? He played about half a dozen or so games at fullback in the NRL, went alright from memory.

Rugby League players playing Union in the games.. NO.

Rugby League being played in the Commonwealth games.. YES.

Would that not get more countrys in the commonwealth playing League and and expanding the international game?
