Getting a little excited by this tbh, someone i voted for pretty much on a whim just because he is an annoying merkin hasnt featured yet and i thought i might be the only one to vote for him, and he was low on my list too.

looks like he annoyed a few more people too and did a fair job of it...

Well shit, now I'm intrigued as to who you're referring to.

I've never sat through a whole LOTR movie or any of Harry Potter's. The whole fantasy genre just isn't to my liking.

I prefer hard science fiction with a factual plot rather than a fantasy slant.

Fair do. I can enjoy both, but definitely lean more towards science fiction of a less space opera bent. Stuff like Moon, Sunshine (before it got weird), Alien etc.

Didn't mind Edge of Tomorrow or Oblivion, although they're both a tad more action adventure than hard sci-fi.

Scorpio making the list is a surprise.

"I know what you?re thinking: 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I?ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you?ve got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

Scorpio was one baaaaaaaaad dude!!!!

I quite enjoyed the bolded as well. For more recent movies, throw in Europa Report and Prometheus too. Something to exercise the brain cells rather than the eyeballs.

The typical space opera genre (Star Wars and Star Trek as prime examples) are just fun without being too challenging to the viewer.

Meanwhile, I have a feeling my top villain will be Top 3, if not Numero Uno.

This conversation reminds me of Event Horizon's villain Wier.
Now HE was demented and evil..

I f**king loved the Event Horizon for the most part. It got a bit too tacky, slasher film at the end (much like Sunshine), but damned if it wasn't atmospheric as all hell at the start.

I'm a big Event Horizon fan, its an underrated classic for mine.

It was well acted, darker than most in its genre and dived briefly into plenty of interesting themes. I actually enjoyed it turning into a slasher/space horror mainly because of how interesting Wier was and the mystery around where he came from, the movie sensibly only gave hints and left plenty to imagination.

One can only wonder about the 20+ minutes of uncut gore/horror footage that test audiences rejected. Apparently a VHS copy surfaced somewhere but no word of a directors cut.

Sunshine didn't quite get it right, I thought bringing back Pinbacker was a great twist but then the movie went nowhere with it. Still loved Sunshine overall.

Europa Report and Moon also great.

Someone mentioned Prometheus, which doesn't compare to any of these.
Had the potential to be even better than all of these, mind you.

I like my space horror with a bit of mystery, which is why the early portions of Sunrise and Event Horizon were so awesome in my eyes. Ditto to why I liked Moon so much.

I might be in the minority who really enjoyed Prometheus.

I liked the concept of Prometheus and parts of it was great, other parts were a shambles.
All the ingredients were there it just didn't seem to come together, it could have been so much more.

The main irk was the geniused decisions all the protagonists kept making, they deserved to get owned.
Another annoyance was the script being oddly cryptic, when it wasn't a very complex plot anyway.

#25 - Biff Tannen (Back to the Future)

BiffTannenBackToTheFuture1985.jpg

A somewhat surprising inclusion this high up the list, Back to the Future's foul-mouthed and ill tempered bully managed to appear in all three movies in some form - making him a constant thorn in the side of Marty McFly and Doc Brown.

More of a fun villain than a genuine threat, he did make a nice human face to the usually scientific/time travel based threats that McFly and Doc were focused on.

=#24 - Magneto (X-Men)

Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender have both tackled this complex villain on the silver screen, treading the line between tortured Holocaust survivor and genocidal human hater to perfection. His reasoning behind wanting to eradicate humanity might disqualify him as a villain in some books, but he has tried to wipe us out on more than one occasion...

=#24 - Frieza (Dragonball Z)

FriezaFirstFormNamekGoku.png

Considered by many fans of the manga as the iconic Dragonball Z villain, he was introduced as the most powerful being in the universe (a title he has since lost to both Cell and Majin Boo), and certainly did plenty of damage his time - eradicating the Saiyan race, killing friends of Goku, and generally being a giant c**k.

=#24 - Al Swearengen (Deadwood)

Based on a real life pimp and general troublemaker from 1800s Deadwood, Ian McShane's foul-mouthed interpretation of the Wild West criminal managed to make him both villain and anti-hero of the popular HBO western.

=#24 - Cthulu (Cthulu Mythos)

Great-cthulhu.jpg

He's probably appeared on almost as many occasions as a pop culture touchstone as Satan, but HP Lovecraft's monstrous Great Old One has become such a focal part of fantasy mythology that he's featured in everything from video games to Dungeons & Dragons to episodes of South Park.

Bills says there are other gods stronger than himself in Battle of the Gods, that's as cannon as you get without appearing. Hopefully the movie being released next year shows more of them. They are definitely much stronger then Buu as well. Goku beats Buu as a Super Saiyan, he get's bitch slapped around by Bills when he is a god.

A good as Freiza was, Vegeta was always the iconic villain/anti-hero of DBZ for mine.

If you look back his body count is just... phenomenal.
During the time on Namek he was wiping everyone out, then there is of course the Majin Vegeta saga.

Enjoyed Imperfect Cell as a villain too, before they chose to make him a bit more vanilla.
Buu sucks.
