Betham wins it easy for me. Overrated, grubby, walking penalty, poor leader.
Now provides useless game day insight on Sky

Denan Kemp not far behind, struck me as petulant and lazy.

There's no point hating the plodders, it's not their fault they get picked / we have no one better.

For me, Toopi. Aside from one great season 2002 was absolute rubbish. He was the start of Manu coming off of his wing in defence (only to be replaced by daffodil picker Ropati). I would cringe whenever he ran into dummy half and flip a coin whether he would mess up or not.

Matt friggen Jobson. What a god awful signing.

Louis Anderson. Penalty magnet.

Tevita Latu and Sione Faumuina. Great talents, outrageously badly behaved.

Rusty. What he did was atrociously sub human.

Monty, Logan I don't care what order they are in, couldn't stand them.

Players that came on their reputation and didn't preform piss me off. Let's start with Denis Betts & Andy Platt

Have to agree with the Toopi part. Great in 2002 had the highlight reels with getting those tries against Australia as well, but let in a load of tries and messed up quite frequently.

Denan Kemp was the one bastard that just looked like he didn't wanna be here hated his mug on TV

Hon Mention: Logan "Did not pass" Swann

Konrad Hurrell, controversial I know. Seemed to always come back overweight, unable to put in a game. Looked to have switched off mentally. Leaves us, we get better instant results, and he does the same. Gives me the sh*ts

Kevin Locke - Another who seemed uninterested at times.

Betham - Penalty machine, didn't actually think he has that good of a hooker. Had mongrel and that, was about it.

At times, Faafili with his constant sideways runs

Michael Witt - just because he brought upon us, wittyfan.

Karl Temata, possibly another. From memory he was ineffectual.

Also Vince Mellars, big wraps but didnt deliver much

I find it hard to really dislike any Warriors players and have defended players like Kemp, Lowrie, Robson over the years.

Witt would've been an all-time disliked player if he'd got caught by Smith in that 'Never Celebrate Too Early' Youtube classic we could've had.

I have a prejudice against Awen Guttenbeil, as I remember my father always shouting at the TV, 'Oh, that bloody Guttenbeil!'. Did he have particularly bad hands and/or was error prone?

It's far easier to dislike the opposition. Greg Bird is a prime candidate and seems a real meathead, if you want to waste a few minutes of your lives then see this video (if you haven't already):

I never warmed to Brett Seymour or Marc Ellis.

An injury to Seymour gave Johnson his first grade debut I recall.

I was there that night at the SFS on a wet, June night. It was an underwhelming experience

Great...someone opened the door for players from other clubs that we hate.

Greg Bird.
Tamou.
Papali'i
Ryan James.

Those are my top 4

Marc Ellis was a waste of space.
In our house Ngamu was always known as "bloody Ngamu".

If we're looking at players from other teams Greg Bird is the worst. I remember when he knocked one of our players out.

Paul Gallen is another who grinds my gears.

I used to hate Tate before he came here (no really reason why) but that quickly changed when he started playing for us. Saw him differently.

Bit harsh? Toopi was solid enough in 01 and 03, flawed but made up for it with his ridiculous size and agility combination. I'll agree with no staying power though, just like Meli, Fa'afili, Faumuina, Paleaasina, in fact pretty much all the home ground talent of the Anderson era faded away fast.

In that regard, kudos to Manu for delivering for so long.

Clinton Toopi. I used to be very well known for this from about 2003-2006 but not sure how many people on this forum have been around that long.

It really wasn't anything to do with attitude, off-field issues etc, I just really thought he was a terrible player in every way and it was particularly infuriating when a bloke I honestly thought shouldn't have been in first grade was being absurdly talked up as "the best centre in the world" etc.

Every once in a while a complete imposter somehow makes it somewhere they have no business being and I honestly think that was Toopi. Just a flat out bad player. Average size, chicken legs, not a great deal of strength, slow, a generally ungainly athlete, lacked basic skills (could hardly even pass the ball properly), terrible defender, he was just a terrible player and average athlete who LOOKED like a terrible player and average athlete and yet somehow everyone was seeing things I wasn't.

I remember when he scored that hatrick for the Kiwis in 2003 at North Harbour against Australia. For a very very short period of time he might just have been the best centre in the game.

I have a couple of questions about other players who people are singling out.

Sione Faumuina- it's no secret I was a huge Faumuina fan back in the day. People who didn't like him, when you refer to his attitude is it off-field or on-field? Because for me, he always had a pretty good attitude on-field. Always went 100% and tried to make things happen.

Cooper Vuna- I have it in my head that he turned out to be a bit of a dick but what did he actually do when he was here? From my recollection he debuted at age 17 and left the club when he was still a kid and hadn't really had a chance to make much impact?

Why? Players score hattricks, these things happen. Sometimes players score 3 or 4 tries in a game without having to do anything. Toopi actually scored 2 hattricks against Australia (which I will agree is a remarkable statistical achievement) but he didn't display any extraordinary ability in doing so.
