Leaving a game before full-time?

When is it okay to leave one of your team's matches before FT?

i go to the games for the atmosphere, then come home and watch the replay on tele to see how everyone played. as long as i can cheer my team, abuse the ref and all that shit leaving 3 minutes early either winning or losing is no big deal.

gotta hang around to send players off though i was going to hang around win, lose or draw for young's last game at kogarah against parra last week.

now i know so many people are offended by it i might actually start leaving 10 minutes early when my team is losing just so a few nuffies abuse me and it gives me an excuse to give them the finger and tell them to f**k off for fun

... no matter what time they piss off. Especially if it's an away game.

That being said, I wish I had got to jolimont station before fulltime during that magic 70-10 at the mcg. lost count on the ride home of all the weird sexual things I was accused by storm fans of carrying out with mr mundine.

worst ever 80 mins for me was 61-0 at brookvale and relying on a manly fan for a lift home. wanted to go and wait in the car about 20 minutes in.

I walked out about the same time that day. That was the only time I walked out significantly early. I sat through the entire 160 minutes of Brookvale games in 07/08 but that day I wasn't copping it.

I'd have walked against Newcastle in 09 aswell but I has to boo the pricks off.

Those 2 brookvale games were about the worst experience of my life, topped off by walking back to the car after the 56-0 debacle to witness some manly scumbag snapping off the driver's side windshield wiper on my wife's car! Gave chase but we were 100m from the car when we spotted him and he just jumped straight in a commodore and got out of there.

Probably best we never got hold of him really. Taking out 56 points worth of anger on someone would not have ended well

was at that game with my old man and his friend and kid too who were manly supporters.

funniest thing about that is dad and i saw the boys training down at carss park that week. my dad says to his mate before the game "fire and i saw saints training this week, they looked really crisp" nek minit 61-0 lol

Only once.

The finals match between Manly and Cowboys in 2011

Left about 5 minutes early after Manly scored 5 tries in 15 minutes

I've witnessed some awful Cowboys games but I lasted through the full 80 minutes in every single other game I've been too.

Last time I left a game early cause of the result was in 2004, we played at Leichhardt and the score 30-0 with about 10 minutes to go. The score ended up 33-6, although to be fair we parked a fair way.

Other occassions have been at least a couple of minutes early trying to get out of the car park.

But never at half time or plenty of time and the result is pretty much over.

yeah half time or 20 minutes to go is a bit much. the pompous of some people "i'm so disgusted in my team's effort i'm going to make a statement by standing up and walking out!" get your hands off it ya wankers, noone really cares what you think you're not the centre of the universe lol

If no one cares what we think then why are you having a sook about us leaving early?

I don't care what other people do but if I'm at a game it means I've travelled more than 1500kms to be there so I'm sticking around until the sprinklers go on.

Only done it twice. Once was when we played Manly at North Sydney Oval. They had put 50 on us and the old man wanted to make a break on the traffic.

The other was the last regular season game in 2007 when we were down 26-0 to Easts. Heard a massive roar from the crowd on the walk to the carpark and found out it was Fa'alogo knocking the shit out of Anasta. Ever since I missed this joyous occasion I haven't left before the siren.

I always find it prudent to leave the stadium right before I'm arrested for being a) extremely abusive to referees or b) about to throw my phone / beer / coins etc at the linesman or c) for starting a fight with someone who has been bugging the shit out of me all game.

So I tend to watch at least 5 minutes of each game I attend before pissing off in a huff.

I can take a loss like a man but what I can't take is a complete pea hearted performance by a group of professional athletes, if my team has given their all then I will stay the entire game, in saying that though I have only walked out early on 1 game and that was when Souths flogged us in 2009.

I'm inclined to admit I left early from the Eels game last night. A multitude of both Eels and Souths fans left early because of the conditions and the obvious impending victory.

If it weren't for the conditions I would've waited for the full-time siren.

I've only left a storm game early once. And that was the 06 GF. I think there was a minute or so to go and I think slater had dropped the ball.

I was sitting around a shitload of donkeys fans, was completely hammered (we got there when the gates opened and drank all day and night) and was so pissed at the refs performance that night that I didn't wanna see their players and fans celebrating.

I used to go to every tigers game at campbelltown on Saturday nights with my mates. And the only time we stayed until full time was when we knew there was a good chance a fight would break out in the crowd, or if it was one of my mates teams playing.

The only time I ever leave games early (which is still incredibly rare) is if I have something or somewhere to get to in a short period of time and the result is beyond doubt.

If the result is still in the balance, I don't leave regardless of what's happening after the game.
