Leaving a game before full-time?

When is it okay to leave one of your team's matches before FT?

I went to a souffs game in 2002 vs the Dragons at the SFS...i went with Souffs fans and they wanted to leave at haltime cause they were getting smashed....we all walked out, drove home and watched the remaining 30 mins on Fox.

They must've left at halftime a hell of a lot that year.

I've never done it and never will. Anyone who should deserves to be jeered out. Then it might be quite funny if it was just someone going to the pisser and they copped it deluxe.

Never done it.

The Warriors' 'fans' used to be renowned for it. It was called 'the Ericsson shuffle. One time, against Manly or the Northern Eagles, half the crowd left before half time.

I remember this well, and the sort of crap we dished out in 2004-05 almost made it acceptable. ALMOST. But we were all happy to ride the rollercoaster up up and up in 2002 and 03, pretty lame to jump off it in two crap years.

Went to a Warriors game in 2010 I think it was when we got pumped by the Roosters at Mt Smart - the first game that mine and my mate's girlfriends had ever attended. It pissed down for the whole 80 minutes and we didn't have raincoats or umbrellas. It was utterly miserable. I wanted to leave but everyone else wanted to stick it out so we stayed to the end, shivering and dripping wet.

To make matters worse I had a two-for-one ticket voucher but didn't realise you had to pre-book the tickets rather than just buy them on the day. Shocking day from start to finish.

Only ever left before fulltime once - with about 5 minutes left of that 71-6 game at Suncorp in 2007.

I'm pretty sure I was entitled to leave early on that occasion

you should have left with 80min to go JD. We may have won ;-)

in instances like Saturday night in Canberra, I think it's important to stay and let the players know what a pea hearted performance it was.

fans shouldn't regularly boo their team, but theirs a place for it on day's like Saturday.

it's only acceptable if your favourite kid is in the back of an ambulance.

although I did leave a game early due to the barrage of racial abuse being directed at certain players that security refused to act on. I was the one escorted out when I headbutted someone.

The topic on leaving early is just a pissing contest.

Those who stay til the end say " I *raises chin & closes eye in dignified superiority* am a true fan. "

Leave whenever the f**k you want.

Should have included a poll option for GKD and co. - "I only leave early if I have a fumbleball game to get to"

Left early a few times (with 3-5 minutes on the clock), when both teams are in wind down mode as the game is over. Get a little jump on the traffic.

Left a game at Parra a few years back (2008 I think) against Manly at halftime. Went with a few friends who are not very big fans but loosely cheer for Parra (they will jump on their bandwagon when they are doing well but probably haven't watched them play in 2 years now) and it pissed down with rain, no umbrellas and we were not undercover. They didn't care enough to sit around and as a neutral I didn't have enough investment in the game to bother arguing otherwise, if it was either a Tigers game or a good game I may have.

Have never left early. If I can sit through two consecutive 50 point flogings in 2005 at the hands of the Eels and Tigers then I can sit through anything!!!

Throughout the years I've noticed saints fans are the main offenders at leaving a game before full-time.

Saints fans are infamous for it.

Who can forget the footage of about half the stadium pouring out of the ground just after half time when Manly went up by 24 points in 2004...

Those idiots would be kicking themselves for the rest of their lives for missing that comeback

Thankfully the roosters aren't known for comebacks (biggest deficit we've ever come back from in 104 years is 16 points FFS) so we can walk out confidently once a team builds a 3 try lead

But don't you not watch footy anymore because of the poor quality of refereeing?

Thats right. Roosters games only and if I am not doing anything I'll have the footy on (used to watch all 8 games in the past)

Not sure how that is relevant to a game from 8 years ago

That's the point. Everyone's notable exceptions are subjective. "I have a shitty immune system"
When you get sick every 2nd week. Let me know how that goes for you. Merkin.
P.S. f**k anybody who thinks staying the 80 minutes in a flogging makes you a better fan. The egos of some of you.

Couldn't disagree more. You support your team through good times and bad, not just when they're winning. There are notable exceptions to the rule though.

I originally used to think this way, didn't like to leave early. Had the opinion that the players play hard for the fans...

Then i realised that they are like every single employee in the world, they don't care about anyone except #1 and that me sitting there in the pouring rain just to support my team who apparently are "doing it for the fans" is a load of crap.

Upon exiting said game i saw ET a 300+ game champion of the club 40 metres ahead of me walking out on the team.

If he can leave with 10 to go when the team is putting in a rubbish performance.

I have no problems leaving early under any circumstances.

I left WIN about 10 minutes early back when Joey murdered us one night back in 05' to the tune of 54-6

That was so hard to watch, best game Ive seen Joey play live, along with that Origin in Sydney(cant remember the year)

I loled at the Dragons Fans who left the Anzac Day game early this year, I always think back to this....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR2nNyh1gWk

hence why I never leave early cause of that game
