Leichhardt Advantage

Does any one know how much money the tigers stand to lose (per game) if they piss off all home games except Leichhardt & Campbeltown.

Would they not make it back in other ways, such as sponsership deals given that they would certainly win more games??

If we play all Leichhardt and Campbelltown games on Sunday arvo's, it'd be a darn sight cheaper and you'll draw a bigger crowd, thus minimising any loss, if there is indeed a loss.

The real question is, why is the Leichhardt council being bullied so much by the merkined greenies for.

Get Leichhardt fixed up, who cares what the greenies think, they have no fucing idea about anything anyways, they are generally so stupid they flunked arts at Uni.

those greenies now control the council with six of the 12 councillors including the mayor. better be nice to them or l.o. could end up a market garden.

fl.

I still cannot work out how they will play at SFS for 100K payment , and they are saying that a crowd of 18 thousand times say an average $15 a head which equals $270,000 plus drinks and catering plus sponsors plus back to leagues club profit , how can that not make more than 100K ? But even worse they say "WE MAKE A LOSS" please explain what i seem to be missing. Seems like BS to me .

It is a massive load of BS, most likely sprouted to justify playing games at SFS and ANZ.

I'm pretty sure they don't make a loss if they get a good crowd, they just don't get a guaranteed return. Let's not pretend that one of the main reasons they get such good crowds is that with only three games apiece each year the locals are always kept wanting more...

Correct. The club has never said they lose money when they get big crowds. they lose money when they get sub 10,000 crowds, which happens a bit.

The local yuppies have always put a fair bit of pressure on the council. They complain to have 18000 people trample down their streets six times a year, park them out etc etc is not a fair cop, yet they put up with the growers market 52 times a year that creates its fair of bedlam for the locals.

To me the council should go into a joint venture with a developer a do something creative and multi purpose with the space (ie c operate office space at the back of the grandstands). But after the dogs effort a few years back that will not happen.

Just on the advantage, I swear I read that we actually have our worst percentage there. And there was one stage where we were unbeatable at ANZ.

Yeah I very reluctantly accept the argument the Club puts forward for having more games away from Leichhardt/Campbelltown. It seems plausible but brings up the whole Footy Club/Business thing that Sheens was talking about this year.

In the end considering how precarious the financial situation for footy clubs has been in recent years it would make sense to bring in greater certainty of revenue with games at the SFS etc.

But we as the supporters have to show the club that there is potential in playing all home games at home by making the home advantage so overwhelming at Campbelltown and Leichhardt - I think the greatest clubs in any code are those that have a clearly defined home territory and recognise that without a strong home base the club is actually much much weaker.

Im sure they have said they LOSE, and also i cant remember the last game we had sub 10K at L.O .........You would think they would have some more confidence in the supporters to always be over a 10K figure wouldnt ya .

PS ..sign up players like mighty mouse will help make sure my arse is there everytime. :)

Yep i think u are right Westie, it was always a huge factor for Balmain and early WT but i think with all the new grounds for playing and training it has slowly been lost.

I remember WT losing a lot at Campbelltown, but not often at Leichardt.

The problem with Campbelltown is the teams they keep sending there. Almost always out of town teams. And they've been doing it for the past 5 years.

We don't get the decent drawing teams like Saints, Roosters, Manly, Souths, Canterbury or Parramatta at Campbelltown. The last time we got any of those teams was 2004. We get out of town teams with the odd game from Penrith or Cronulla thrown in...

And before anyone says anything, Campbo's average this year is ahead of Leichhardt's. And that's with 3 out of town teams, Canberra, Newcastle and Brisbane having gone there. Then again, Leichhardt got 3 doozies this year too. Penrith, NQ and Melbourne...

I think that's what we can expect from this mob, the teams they think we can pull a crowd against will all be at the SFS/SCG. It gives me the sh*ts, I'd much rather see a packed house at Campbelltown or Leichhardt than a 1/3 full SFS...
