Nightingale took a reduced offer to stay with the Dragons last year, he was getting massive offers from the Warriors but opted to stay. He's also the only person on our roster that qualifies for long service cap exemption so he'd be on next to nothing on the cap.
Thanks for clarifying, I was stuck in the past!

How much did Tariq Sims sign for? Do you know what his contract is worth to say he was signed on overs?
And the melbourne kid... have the storm never lost a good player to another club?
Inglis?
As bennyV said, as you were.

If It wasn't for the salary cap scandal, Inglis would have been at the Storm his whole career.

Apparently Nightingale is close to one of the clubs top earners, almost like holding a loyalty rewards card he built up points and his pay kept rising.

How many players have signed with this club for less in recent times, loyal to the cause? I'm honestly scratching my head trying to think of one

Nightingale signed with Dragons on significantly less than what the Warriors offered.

Rumored is the key word.
Im not saying its right or wrong, i dont know what the amount is, hence why i asked if he actually knew.
And on your last point, judging by the form he showed in the games he played for us this season, if he produces that form in the red V for the next 2 years i personally dont see 400k as overs at all.

Sims was close to our best player over the time he has been with us. Was signed for 400k when he was earning 600k for the Kinights.

It's unders not overs and for once we recruited well with value

With Creagh and Rein gone, I'm guessing JDB who debuted in 2011.

I think your correct.
And what has JDB achieved in his tenure with the Dragons? A CityVCountry game?

With 70% of our current squad off contract in 2017 where is our stability?
If JDB is our longest serving Dragon next would be Dugan, Widdop , Lam, Thommo?
Hardly players you would form a stable base around, plus many on the Dragons forum are calling for Widdop, Dugan and LAM's head at the end of next year.
If i think of the Storm - they have the big 3
Cowboys - JT, Taumalolo etc
Sharks - Gallen
Broncs- ?

All are leaders with long tenure, we have JDB!
Now im not saying JDB is not a good player but is he a leader? No

We need an inspirational leader and I'm hoping that will be Russell Packer. I just hope we do the right thing and sign him up beyond 2017 soon as I feel he may hear the sounds of the Kiwi haka as more appealling than the bullshit that flows from McGregors mouth

Dave Warwick has recruited okay to date with Tariq Sims, Josh Kerr and Nene MacDonald to supplement good recruits in Mann, Milne and Packer.
If we can get a performing First Grade Coach things should improve as Demetriou (2nd place) and Head (3rd place) seem to be able to
attract lower grade players seeking opportunities.

But compare those signings to the guys we've gone after and missed out on... Coote, Norman, Cronk...

If its not a salary cap scandal its salary cap pressure.
Point is no team, and i mean NO team can keep every single player when playing fair by the salary cap.
TPAs have made it alot easier to keep a majority of players, but clubs still lose players.
For someone to suggest bellamey didnt want to keep kerr, thats silly!
How do they know that?
It seems no matter who we sign, its a sook fest. He was in jail, he got sacked by canberra, etc etc.
Then, its "we couldnt land norman, we missed out on cronk " etc etc but the truth is there were a number of clibs that also chased these players and also missed out.
Player movement in rugby league is part and parcel of the game.
Not having a go at you buddy just stating the obvious for alot of others.

We've missed a hard nosed inspirational leader since Hornby retired. Creagh and Widdop just didn't have it. So many times, especially in games where things didn't start going our way, ( I remember distinctly the Titans and the Tigers game last year when we limped into the finals), we needed a calm head to to keep it all together.

Never had the sense that Creagh and/or Widdop could keep the boys heads together when things got tough. In fact when things started going south, we got progressively worse, hence the many blow outs we had during the year.

Having ineffective leadership was just one of our many problems.

Must be code for either Melbourne of Bronco's as Baird said he is banning the Dogs from next year or is that a little to optimistic?

Frizell for captain with Aitken as understudy.

Friz is our best player, but not sure he's captain material (yet). Seems too nice a guy.

I'd be going for Thommo or even Duges. Duges is probably the one guy who people will follow. For all his flaws at FB, you can't question his heart and passion.

500k not 400k but he is worth it
he will probably be our best forward next season
we have other players in the squad on similar money who have been rubbish
if a player performs every week i dont mind if they are on decent coin its the shit players on big coin i really hate
