Great to see they are honest about how shit they have been. First time Ive seen something I like in Moses all year. A shame they didnt have Gareth Ellis and Farah leading them.

I really don't get the Moses hate. To me he is one of the few players in the team who has improved as the years gone on. He takes wrong options but to me he looks dangerous in the 20m. It sure as hell would help him if he had a decent right backrower and center to give him some options. He is much better then brooks ATM, if anything brooks has gone backwards IMO.

Fair article on them both. It's not their fault the club was reatrded enough to offer massive 4 year contracts to 2 blokes who had played a combined 1 first grade game.

On the one hand they're saying "the media shouldn't hype us up" on the other hand they were happy to take the big $$$ that came from the hype. I wish they hadn't been hyped, then we might have signed them cheaply & brought them through properly.

I completely agree but his last game was terrible.

Brooks has gone backwards for sure, he was much better last year.

My one bugbear with Moses is his kicking game. Midfield bombs that barely ever give us possession or a repeat set.

that and his occasional inability to get his outside men outside their defenders because he feeds them the ball way too early.

Of late he has started to take the line on a bit more which has helped fix this issue a bit.

Brooks hasn't developed at all this year. I put that down to the combination between him and Farah having changed dramatically, via Taylor forcing Farah to take a back seat. Brooks was at his best when working off the back of Farah's natural game.

Given Cherrington has a similar attacking game to Farah, I would've thought it only made sense to allow the Farah/Brooks combo to continue as it always had done, for Brook's benefit more than anything.

Taylor said at the coaches night the midfield bombs are about field position. It's under his instruction. Kicking it high gives us time to get to the fullback and less room for him. The ball doesn't go dead so no 7 tackle set.

Not saying I agree with it, but this is straight from his mouth.

The bombs are clearly a coaching instruction - JT has even spoken about it in the media, the intention is to have the opposition work it out from as close to their line as possible. You'll notice a fair few other NRL teams are doing this as well (not as mindlessly as we are mind).
(edit: sorry vic, you beat me to it).
These kicks would be a lot more effective if our kickchase was half decent.

We've started attacking a bit more freely of late. Will be interesting to see if JT allows Farah to play a bit more naturally when he returns, as he hasn't had a run in the looser structure as of yet.

it seems stupid. Why not try some grubbers and try and get some drop outs, or even kick for touch. Predictability is the worse thing any playmaker can become

Kicking on the last should provide pressure on the opposition no matter what type of kick, mindless mid field bombs, landing on their quarter line, uncontested simply turns the ball over to the opposition eliminating any WT scoring opportunities.

Plus it needs to be backed up with solid defence, unlike some of the efforts against the Roosters last Friday where the bomb was an invitation for the Roosters backs to rip though the gaping holes in our pissweak line.

Also take note that Ritchards isnt doing his BOMB kick offs , it is considered a low percentage play by Taylor. But kicks out on the full seem much better.

Great win last night. Hopefully we can build on these performances. That being said, Farah needs to go back to 80 mins, especially with the new interchange rules.

My team for 2016

1. Tedesco
2. Nofo
3. Naiquama
4. Simona
5. Hoeter
6. Moses
7. Brooks
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Tupau
11. Lawrence
12. Halutau
13. Sironen

14. Ava
15. Sue
16. Lodge
17. Lovett

Would be great to add a few players to this team but looks like that won't happen. If Taylor can develop these young guns into solid first graders then we will be in good shape

I think we need a better winger. I could handle Simona on the wing and a better centre as well.

I like that backrow assuming Sironen kicks on. It is risky but I think its worth a shot. Halatau and Lawrence have both been great but they are both small backrowers.

The bench is interesting. I like the idea of replacing Robbie. He lacks zip now and I think resting him and putting on Cherrington who can really do stuff out of dummy half is a good idea.

Problem is that we don't have any better backs than that. Im assuming we aren't signing anyone so looks like Hoeter will get a starting spot. If we could sign a quality centre/winger then they would slot straight in.

re: Robbie. Yes he isn't as quick but I don't think interchanging him provides as much value as having an extra prop on the bench would do. Apart from Woods, none of our front rowers can eat the big minutes so we might have issues there.
