But you also defend the indefensible at times.....why??

show me what i have defended that is indefensible???

I don't like that Smithy plays guys out of position....or that out team is changed around too much....our attack seems to lack any potency and our defense is not even a shadow of what it used to be.

But I seriously cannot say that it is all the fault of the coach:
- do I know we have bad game plans? NO
- do I know that we don't train correctly? NO
- do I know that Smithy doesn't try to get em going before a game? NO

We played VERY well against the Roosters - did the coach just have a good week out of the blue? - I doubt it.

I can understand alot of guys leaving the club that in hind sight would have been nice to keep.....many performed very poorly the years they left......is that all the coaches fault? - I don't know.

Many people on this forum judge things they know nothing about, yet state things as facts.....I disagree with that.

Yes we have performed VERY badly the last couple of seasons - something has to change - the coach??? I honestly don't know if there is a better option, so I support what he have now.

But I seriously cannot say that it is all the fault of the coach: (nor do I - but he must shoulder much of the blame)
- do I know we have bad game plans? NO (Why not - we see them week after week)
- do I know that we don't train correctly? NO (we musn't - our skills are at times pathetic)
- do I know that Smithy doesn't try to get em going before a game? NO (but week after week they come out unrevved - something ain't going on in there)

We played VERY well against the Roosters - did the coach just have a good week out of the blue? - I doubt it.

I can understand alot of guys leaving the club that in hind sight would have been nice to keep.....(and who chose to let them go)many performed very poorly the years they left...(and many didn't)...is that all the coaches fault? - I don't know.

With all that logic.....you'd be happy to have Smith here for another ten years, even if we didn'y win a premiership??

Yeah, there's always next year I guess. Disappointed the team didn't seem to get revved up for this game as they did for the Roosters. Both games were just as important to finals hopes.

Same bunch of guys... exact same 18 players. I'm at a loss to why. #-o

The only thing I can PRESUME from this vantage point IS that something is missing in the preparation and motivation (coaching) aspects most weeks. I don't begrudge Smith his place, reputation and efforts, and I talso wish the man the best personally, but I think we must now get something into the club that will improve the coaching, preparation and motivation that shows itself in team performances.

Even if it means using Smith's skills (recruitment development etc) in a Coaching Director role in 2005, and bringing in another person/coach to handle the firsts team alone. As a club, that's the option I'd be persuing with Brian for next year - the final year of his current contract.

I personally like to blame the players because they are the ones who actually play shithouse. Players like Graham, Burt,Peek, Hopkins, Wagon,Witt and the like are just reserve Grade standard. Some peoples brains are just clouded in regards to these players THAT CAN"T PLAY.

We will not win any comp while we harbour these sub standard Z grade players. Does anyone understand this??

May I just ask - what do you people thik Hopkins did wrong?

IMHO opinion, the only people who can hold their heads high are Petersen, McKinnon and Hopkins.

Stapleton tried hard but got nothing.

Morris is a bloody disgrace - some of the idiotic penalties he gave away were inexcusable.

Vella and Pearson were very ordniary but had flashes of briliance.

Widders was woeful.

Afamasaga played his worst game to date (and it still wasn't that bad).

Peek was solid.

Tsoulos does NOTHING; injured or not he should be making the opposition have nightmares every time he hits the ball up, like Shane Tronc.

Graham is not fit or confident enough yet.

Langi is solid butjust way too slow.

Burt is OK, but he really needs to get more involved.

Wagon is just like Morris.

Witt showed glimpses of brilliance, but his defence was woeful.

Hindmarsh looked frustrated, buggered and annoyed.

Like I said, Muzza, Wade and Hopkins were our best IMHO.

Yeh hopkins is allowed to hold his head high and so is Peterson. But the rest were woeful at times especially Witts defense. Hopkins is yet to be signed so he is out to impress. Hindmarsh is reallhy not happy and he got benched after dropping the simplest ball probably out of fatigue. Langi will not be resigned. But they reqlly need to dig deep and finish strongly.

I also think that McKinnon had another good game, and if the ball had have kept being moved out to the left, Burt would have played well too.

But any one who bags Petersen needs their head read - the guy was the best thing we had on the park last night and continually gives his all, and while he has the occasional bad game I think he has 3 good or acceptable games to every bad one.

But we're not out of the running yet, so let's not give up hope, hey?

I agree with Peek and Graham at this point, but i can't agree that you are saying that Wagon, Hopkins, Witt and Burt are reserve graders??????????????

I honestly thought that Lee Hopkins played well in a poor side last night......but what was the go with them anyway....even Hindy seemed down?????

preparataion and coaching maybe???

I think last night was just the result of extreme frustration. I don't agree that the effort wasn't there, I think they were trying there guts out but it just wasn't happening for them. And in the end that comes down to the fact that we've just not got enough points in us. If we even get six points its going to be a struggle because we don't know how to score a try (bomb aside). We won last week, because we scored three tries (directly or indirectly) from bombs. I really, really like Michael Witt and I think he is fine at five-eighth but he does not yet know how to orchestrate attack and we're going to struggle to put points on the board. I'm sure if we had Dykes playing at close to par as half we'd have won last night.

In the end it doesn't really matter how else everyone in the team goes, because if your halves don't fire you won't win the game.

If i do think abut it I would like Witt at 5/8 becuase he wouldnt have to lead the attack. Dykes and Witt could continually swap bewteen 1st and 2nd reciever. Theres a lot of thinking to do.
