PS In regards to Tim Smith I have one small concern. I saw him play this year and he runs a little bit like Adam Dykes and that scares me.

my problem wasnt with dykes running sideways, he should have had some support - other players running off him through holes. it just didnt happen.

Injuries. Thats his problem or else he would not have been released IMO. He was on big money and not playing so what was the point. It will be good to see some of the younger guys step up.

Running side way can be quite effective if you link up with some straight or angled runners!

I am wondering why players didnt run off him. He was so good at making holes in the line of defence. Schiocofske ran off everyone all the time and we saw how sucessful that was. Mckinnon tried but most times it didnt pay off :x

I've seen Leuluai play a fair bit, and unfortunately he is very average,no passing game and his kicking is very poor

It was probably his body odour - a main factor in his release, so my sauces tell me ;-)

for what its worth, i believe next year Tim Smith needs to be given the #7 jumper at the start of the year and be told that it is his for the season. give him the security and let his confidence grow and hopefully we reap the rewards over the next decade. that also opens up the premier league halfback position for Blake Green, giving him experience and hopefully he develops as well, eventually putting the pressure on Smith.

this also gives us the 'luxury' of having PJ in the #14, a chance to ease him back into the game after his injury as well as a genuine gamebreaker off the bench in the same sort of role that Craig Wing plays in rep games.

signing Leulaui would just seem to confuse the issue further and probably alienate some players. unless he is viewed as a better prospect than what we already have I would view his signing as unneccesary and possibly damaging. maybe the best thing for us as a team would be for him to sign for widnes for a year with the possibility of picking him up after that if we need him.

the worst thing that could happen is chopping and changing in the halves all year, destroying the confidence of all the juniors and we are left with no-one again...unfortunately this scenario sounds familiar

Good post Stuke. I dont want PJ in the 7 jersey but if he sets a winning platform for Smith I wouldnt mind it.

I thought he went a lot better than he did in the 1st test, having said that, i'm still not in any way convinced he is the answer that parra needs

He plays exactly Like Witt does and then goes missing just like Witt does. It will be a BIG mistake signing this guy.

Read in todays paper about Riddell and how he will be played for about 60 min a game. This can only mean that PJ marsh will cover for him off the bench. This tells me that Morris will definetely be our number 6 and Smith will get first shot at 7. I also saw an interview with Eric Watson on Fox and he stated and enforced that Leulua will ONLY be released to an English club.

I don't see Leuleui as a major improvement for us.....he played OK in the test today....his running game seems ok, but his kicking was poor and his passing was nothing special......and I don't see him as an organiser (which we need - and don't have anyone who looks like being one next year :( )

Its good to see Riddell sticking to his playing weight of 102KG in the off season, it will make it easier for him in pre-season training.
