LG ends association with Sharks

Roboshark I admire your passion and I imagine your game attendance record is as impressive.

It's sad that the fans are rallying others in the Shire to attend when the best the club usually does is park a trailer on the highway opposite Kareela Oval (is it there for this game BTW?). Does a PR department exist? Apart from "poor us please come to the game" what have the Sharks been doing to publicize the game? Are the finances so dire they can't afford to market the team?

Do the Sharks board have a death wish for the club? Nothing will change with the forthcoming elections. Pierce is running unopposed. Meanwhile Zappia is looking for greener pastures. It smacks of The Simpsons episode where they were planning to move the Springfield Isotopes to Albuqueque where "The low quality of the team combined with its financial difficulties has prompted management to consider moving the team."

Interesting article on the Sharks predicament here.

In particular:

"You might have expected in the life of clubs that each of these sort of things happen every 10 years or so, but the fact that so many things have happened simultaneously is highly unlikely," said Professor Joe Gani, from Australian National University's Mathematical Sciences Institute.

Sydney's top spin doctors say that nothing short of a "clean sweep" at the highest levels and a renewed focus on families can save the Sharks from a "category five PR disaster".
The club's problems run so deep, the experts say, that just tinkering with its image and reshaping its "message" won't save it from extinction.

It was time for a "fundamental culture change", said Tim Powell, managing director at Cox Inall, a public relations agency specialising in crisis management.
"I think you'd class it as a category five PR disaster, because they've managed to offend just about every sensibility in the book," he said.
"They've offended women, families, and broken rules of fairness in sport by playing drug cheats.
"Unsophisticated leadership will focus on things reported and all they want is someone to yell at the Herald and The Daily Telegraph for reporting bad things.
"But that isn't going to work - Cronulla is a front-page story every day and no amount of PR is going to stop that

Tim Allerton, from City Public Relations, said the club's problems came from deep cultural problems that started at the top.
"No amount of press releases or verbiage is going to change the problem," he said.
"The club needs repackaging ... you repackage by sacking the board and the CEO."
Both Mr Allerton and Mr Powell said new leadership would have a licence to rebuild the club based on positive values.
A makeover would attract sponsorship dollars and crowds again.
"Why do sponsors sponsor sporting teams? Because of brand alignment," Mr Powell said.
Cronulla needs to rebrand [so it no longer reflects] contempt for women, financial mismanagement and drug cheating and build a brand that stands for player discipline, hard work, respect and family values."
The challenge for the Sharks was that those responsible for the club's immediate future were part of the problem, Mr Powell said.

The club needs flushing down the pan
Much like the community it represents

What sort of cretin are you?

That's an ignorantly sweeping statement about well over 200,000 people.

Can you please elaborate on this community.

Please provide something intelligent.

it's not ironic at all.

as you said they were always a useless club and a parasite as well.

they were always going to be the first to perish.

the weak always die first.

.

Just like the strong st george club that merged with illawarra you twat?

Just like the strong st george club that merged with illawarra you twat?

why yes, the st george club is strong, very strong.

merging with illawarra wasn't a sign of weakness.

they just wanted their juniors and tooks steps to make that happen.

thanks for your concern though.

There is little point referring to the lack of premierships from another club...

The STI ability to choke will outweigh Bennett's ability to coach. It is an unstoppable phenomenon, as sure as the tides.

i hope you enjoy sharing the wooden spoon with the scum this season.

i must say though, the sydney roosters (is that what they're called now, i've lost track?), have spent alot of money to strive for the wooden spoon. i'm sure they could've spent half that money and still would've been heading for the same result.

the best thing for the game would be a relocation of a sydney team to another region (adelaide would be great) if this happens to be the sharks so be it.

So, you were around when the Sharks stabbed the NSWRL in the back and joined a competition that wanted to kill off clubs like Wests, Souths and Balmain?

I'm sorry for the fans. This sucks, and no one should go through it. But the club can rot in hell.

Unfortunately Cronulla"s treachery during super league does make it hard to feel sympathy for the club. The fans yes, but not the club.

Cronulla are like the nerdy, sickly cousin that keeps going in and out of hospital and ending up on life support-eventually the family says "enough" and pulls the plug..mercy killing.

I heard InterPark are new sponsors or something along those lines.
Just heard that on Sky News - no $ amounts mentioned though, but good to hear.
I also really hope "the porn King" does sue over Magnay's recent allegations if they are not true..
