Peek and Stapleton really impressed me today! I thought one of the huge differences between the Eels and the Broncos was that the Eels bench players performed much better than their Broncos opposition. I have placed Peek in the starting side because of his front on defence. He is a physical forward which will be needed in this game cause i rate the newcastle forward pack as one of the best in the comp. Those oppening 20 minutes are going to be hell  !!!! Stapleton to the second row so that Wagon can move to the centres to mark up on Russel Richardson.

I agree with most, but I would be surprised if Smith makes that many changes.

You guys are dreaming if you think Kativerata will be dropped after that 'brilliant' performance  He'll be the first player picked in First Grade every week as he's the new Brian Smith Pet Project for 2004. His name will forever be remembered along with the likes of Benny Kusto & Paul Carige :?

So guys just a friendly reminder, when you start typing your likely line-ups each week, start with...

2. Kativerata

Just cut and paste the above after every weekend into the new line-up for the following week (win/lose or draw).

Should be an interesting side this week.

We will probably be without Grothe - possibly seeing Peterson take his wing spot with ? in the centres?

Also, there must be doubt over Hopkins. Who goes to lock then?

O'Dwyer should be good for a start this week. We may see him go into either the centre or as a straight swap for Hopkins. If he was top start in the centres, then that may see Wags to lock and opens the way for either thorman or witt to start.

Can't wait until tomorrow arvo!

I reckon Stapleton deserves a starting spot. He made some good runs yesterday and two line breaks as well.

O'Dwyer didn't do anything wrong, it wasn't anything flash but he definitely wasn't out of his depth.

My only change would be Vella to the bench and Stapleton into the starting side and if Hopkins is injured put Peeky into the second row and move Hindy back.

The thing I can't understand is the consistency.

Peeky's spear tackle looked a lot worse than Guru's head high, and Peeky walked away with a slap on the wrist... although the replay before the ref's may see it diffently, and we may see Peeky up against the board!

If Witt is still having shoulder problems then the side should be:

Burt
Grothe
O'Dwyer
Vaeliki
Petersen
Morris
Dykes
Cannings
Webster
Cayless [c]
Hindmarsh
Stapleton
Wagon

Int:
Thorman
Peek
Vella
Armit

I think James Webster has done enough to earn his spot against Newcastle. He played pretty well in the last stages of the match yesterday, always quick out of dummy half, just what we need.

I'd give Armit another go, and I also like to see Thorman or Pai playing first grade this week.

Webster had a great game yesterday, but he's got to come off the bench - we need a little guy who can provide some impact off the bench.

Stapleton is probably our best offseason buy so far - after everyone bitched about his signing in the offseason, I think some people should be eating some humble pie...I'd be happy to see him in the starting side.

Assuming Hopkins will miss at least a week, and maybe Grothe will be in trouble at the judiciary (I don't think he should be, but we know we never get off).

1. Burt
2. Peterson
3. O'Dwyer
4. Vaealiki
5. Grothe (otherwise someone from PL)
6. Wagon ( - I don't want him as our long term 5/8, but I don't believe the Knights is the right game to blood Thorman)
7. Dykes
8. Cannings
9. Morris
10. Stapleton
11. Armit
12. Cayless
13. Hindy

14. Webster
15. Peek
16. Vella
17. Pearson (I think we need some bulk for the Knights)

Best buy so far is Eric Grothe

Stapleton is playing well but i still think that Grothe is the best signing we got by a mile. I think he will go very close to playing origin this season.
